  1. be careful which ones you grab... Ed usually gets served a spitter.
  2. get back to screwing old people out of their SS checks you profiteering bastard!
  3. In my best Jerry Seinfeld voice.... "Shrader!"
  4. for sale or for lease? I am VERY interested if the price is right! Tell me what I have to do to get information.
  5. I'm not sure of the cause, but the last several weeks we have seen a large spike in traffic. We are seeing year over year activity increasing between 100% and 200%!!! Aye Carumba! We have been pushing more GB's per day the past two weeks than we did on Draft Day last year - annually our biggest day of the year. I feel like we got slashdotted or something... With that said, we upgraded several software packages to their latest versions and tweaked some others in hopes to wring some additional performance out of this puppy. I have RFQ's out for new hardware in hopes to eliminate bottlenecks. Hopefully, the Sabres can fulfill their expectations and I would like to be able to meet demand. I'm trying to price out a dual-core Opteron with a 15k RPM SCSI disk and 500GB/mnth of bandwidth. I'll keep you informed of any upcoming changes. Just an FYI....
  6. In trying to determine if our server is I/O bound, but there is no "wait" percentage listed under my CPU stats like some people have alluded to. Does anyone know how to determine how I/O bound we are? Normally when we are loaded heavily, the CPU is at 75% and higher, so maybe I/O isn't an issue (I had read if the CPU load is low, but the "wait" is high - then it is I/O). We are running FreeBSD FWIW.
  7. Bledsoe, Moulds, Clements, McGahee, Fletcher, maybe Spikes... about the only relevant ones left will JP and Evans.
  8. we have seen a 50% jump in traffic in two weeks... I have to find the source of that and why our SQL processes say "Writing to net"... This normally wouldn't have caused this type of load all day if past history is any indicator.
  9. We are upgrading some packages, so you may see some hard outages. I turned off guest viewing to help with the load. Crazy things are going on, but we'll get it fixed.
  10. I don't know what that means... it works for me. We are experiencing something really odd here because the load should be nothing now, yet it is still high. I've been w/ tech support for an hour now. We'll try and get this sorted out.
  11. he ditched Priest Holmes... had no idea what was in his own backfield.
  12. Fios is something that is being laid out by Verizon and you can only get it if they lay the fiber down your street. Once that is there - you request them to bring it into your house. It can be head and shoulders above - it depends on your own situation, but most people find it cheaper for the same speed or faster for the same money. Comcast is a monopoly in our county because they are the only ones with a cable franchise. So, unless you can get DSL - they are the sole provider of broadband for us. Fios will make them up their service and bring down their rates.
  13. FWIW, many of our MYSQL processes have: "Writing to net" as their status. I've never seen this before and it may suggest something else is wrong, like a network connection or something. I will talk to tech support tonight, but if anyone here knows something about that please chime in.
  14. This news wasn't THAT big that we should have experienced this kind of trouble. The draft is way bigger than this as well as Marv getting hired and we fared much better with the previous version of the software. As best as I could tell, we just bottle necked the CPU. Memory stayed out of swap and the server stayed up fine under loads of +30 - the pages just weren't being processed fast enough.... I have no idea why it is so smooth right now.
  15. So, for 4 months you will have dual subs to Fios and DTV? They don't allow you to get the Ticket w/ a sub package anymore... That's a pricey solution.
  16. I'm pretty sure no one knows how many planets there are these days... they keep adding/taking them away.
  17. but you're 19% stupid, so maybe you were the target audience?
  18. 3%....
  19. Congrats on the new place. you can keep track of Fios issues here: http://www2.dslreports.com/forum/vzfiber I can't imagine what the delay is... So, are you kissing the Sunday Ticket goodbye? I'm pretty close to dropping it. If Fios carried Center Ice, I'm not sure I could resist.
  20. and there it - the fiber trunk is in the ground baby!!!! Can't you just smell the sweet, sweet silica?
  21. but if you knew The Dean - you wouldn't thank him - you would run.... away.... quickly....
  22. I'm pretty sure McSorely kicked the crap out of Janet for breathing too hard in Wayne's ear on Valentine's Day.
