  1. I was told that we entered Bronze or novice.... The novice part really threw me because we have some very good players, so I'm pretty sure our C is aware of the games that are played. They have won these tourneys before....
  2. yes. The captain of our team here in MD puts together a "work" team and has the company pay the fee. We have 7 skaters and a goalie and we need a few more. We have the hotel reservations right next to the rink. It's the Labatts Blue Adult Hockey Tournament listed on usahockey.com. The 23rd - 25th.
  3. BTW, I know the emoticons are broken... they should be fixed at lunchtime.
  4. If you add up the requests for files (images, pages, css, javascript, etc....) that get logged in our server logs over the course of one year - we serve approximately 1 BILLION files. I thought that was a cool stat, but then again I'm easily amused....
  5. in a contest of 1 maybe....

  7. I've looked at my logs and nothing suspicious is taking place...
  8. the timing may not be ideal, because I am out of town the next couple of weekends (when I would be able to do the bulk of the work). That puts us at the beginning of April - just in time for Hockey playoffs. I might have to do a half and half and float two servers for a month or two.
  9. I don't know if we can remain with our current host due to their pricing. I have found a couple of reliable, highly recommended hosts who have much better pricing. However, this obviously requires us to change hosts, yet again, and we would have to deal with all the accompanying headaches w/ regards to domain name transfer, downtime to set the server up, etc... Is everyone set to deal with these headaches, should we move forward w/ this?
  10. A couple people have asked my about this. I have set up an easy way for people to make contributions. Just go to your control panel and click the "Make a Donation!" link on the left hand side. That gives a couple of options to choose from. Thank you for your support! If there is not a preset amount that floats your boat - just PM me for our direct paypal account/mailing address.
  11. I have requested double the amount of lights and a 50% increase in colors. That should suit us nicely.
  12. be careful which ones you grab... Ed usually gets served a spitter.
  13. get back to screwing old people out of their SS checks you profiteering bastard!
  14. In my best Jerry Seinfeld voice.... "Shrader!"
  15. for sale or for lease? I am VERY interested if the price is right! Tell me what I have to do to get information.
  16. I'm not sure of the cause, but the last several weeks we have seen a large spike in traffic. We are seeing year over year activity increasing between 100% and 200%!!! Aye Carumba! We have been pushing more GB's per day the past two weeks than we did on Draft Day last year - annually our biggest day of the year. I feel like we got slashdotted or something... With that said, we upgraded several software packages to their latest versions and tweaked some others in hopes to wring some additional performance out of this puppy. I have RFQ's out for new hardware in hopes to eliminate bottlenecks. Hopefully, the Sabres can fulfill their expectations and I would like to be able to meet demand. I'm trying to price out a dual-core Opteron with a 15k RPM SCSI disk and 500GB/mnth of bandwidth. I'll keep you informed of any upcoming changes. Just an FYI....
  17. In trying to determine if our server is I/O bound, but there is no "wait" percentage listed under my CPU stats like some people have alluded to. Does anyone know how to determine how I/O bound we are? Normally when we are loaded heavily, the CPU is at 75% and higher, so maybe I/O isn't an issue (I had read if the CPU load is low, but the "wait" is high - then it is I/O). We are running FreeBSD FWIW.
  18. Bledsoe, Moulds, Clements, McGahee, Fletcher, maybe Spikes... about the only relevant ones left will JP and Evans.
  19. we have seen a 50% jump in traffic in two weeks... I have to find the source of that and why our SQL processes say "Writing to net"... This normally wouldn't have caused this type of load all day if past history is any indicator.
  20. We are upgrading some packages, so you may see some hard outages. I turned off guest viewing to help with the load. Crazy things are going on, but we'll get it fixed.
  21. I don't know what that means... it works for me. We are experiencing something really odd here because the load should be nothing now, yet it is still high. I've been w/ tech support for an hour now. We'll try and get this sorted out.
  22. he ditched Priest Holmes... had no idea what was in his own backfield.
  23. Fios is something that is being laid out by Verizon and you can only get it if they lay the fiber down your street. Once that is there - you request them to bring it into your house. It can be head and shoulders above - it depends on your own situation, but most people find it cheaper for the same speed or faster for the same money. Comcast is a monopoly in our county because they are the only ones with a cable franchise. So, unless you can get DSL - they are the sole provider of broadband for us. Fios will make them up their service and bring down their rates.
