  1. you probably called up and started talking politics... They gave you all that if you promised to hang up and never call back again!
  2. Say 3 Our Father's and 5 Rosaries... maybe that will make you feel better. I could put in a good word with St. Peter if you really are concerned.
  3. what about a 300lb woman?
  4. if you are upset then call them and be truthful with your complaints. I think that is the right way to go, but not everyone agrees. Personally, I would be pissed about all these side deals that are going on. Bob gets $150 and free SF, Tom pays $220... someone else pays something different.
  5. I'm projecting my guilty feelings on you because I feel guilty for.... er.... being honest? Look, you don't need my approval for the things you do. Just do your thing...
  6. I'm not asking anyone to feel sorry for DTV... What would be an interesting discussion though is what happens to their ST pricing structure after this season? Now that gobs of people are paying $150 for it - are you going to pay $270 next year? Will you ever pay that again? Will you hate DTV with every fiber in your body if they dig in their heels and stick with $270...? I may take them up on their $120 deal, but I'll never pay another dime more for it. If they want to offer it again to me next year - so be it.
  7. I'm not getting dragged into this. I have my opinion and no one is going to convince me that the way most fans have approached the ST this offseason has been ethical. The problem is that most people calling are not thinking about taking their business elsewhere. They are lying. They are lying because they read on the internet they can pay less for something if they say certain words to certain people. If that is what you want to do - that is your business. Clearly, you feel guilty over this or you wouldn't be responding to me. It's not something I personally feel comfortable with (and several others chimed in agreement) and it isn't something I would teach my children to do. OTOH, if someone is truly dissatisfied with a product then by all means let company X know. I have no issue with legitimate gripes. I make them all the time. I'm a very pro-active consumer. However, I wish DTV would take a certain percentage of these people who call and complain and disconnect their service on their 1st threat w/o a counter offer. Maybe if people knew they had a 1 in 5 chance of having their bluff called - DTV could focus on real calls, from real customers who have real complaints.
  8. Ohhhhhh.... so you go into Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, woof down a NY Strip, lyonnaise potatoes, asparagus, and have some nice creme brulée, only to end your meal with a complaint to the manager about their overpriced food and a demand for a partial refund? Is that the type of gamesmanship we should all participate in? No thanks. I prefer to be honest with the people I do business with. It may be a small gesture in an otherwise crappy world, but that's the way I roll... PS: sorry I hit the mark, clearly you feel uncomfortable with your own actions.

  10. I will go nuts on the owners there if that happens. I don't think that is that kind of site. Does it give you that vibe? Are others thinking the same thing? Registration is off quite a bit this year.
  11. Well done... I think a few posters in this thread owe you an apology.
  12. I'm still waiting for SKOOBY's offer.
  13. I think JJ should have fun with it and flash "TILT! TILT! TILT!" on the monitors when it is hit.
  14. Well, Steve let me know he's going over my head (that leaves out VABills I guess) and is going to get me fired.
  15. my thing is that I'm in an area serviced by FIOS. So, for an extra $10 or so a month I got upgrades to: - 65 locals calls per month w/ zero phone features to unlimited nationwide calling and callerID, etc... - Internet service went from 5/2 to 25/15 - went from DTV with DVR/No HD channels to a full HD package and DVR. So, the FIOS Triple Play package is pretty awesome. It was just too much of an upgrade to turn down just to be able to watch some select live games a few weeks per year.
  16. and FWIW, I wouldn't doubt that they tried to ping my receiver while on the phone and saw that it is unplugged and hasn't "called home" for a week.
  17. I'll let you see this long enough to wish you well in your future endeavors... Signed, Member No.: 1
  18. I don't really care what you think doesn't jive. I was offered this deal because I'm a real customer who is leaving, not someone gaming the system. I could care less if you believe me or not. Do I have something to gain here by lying to everyone? and no they aren't dying to keep my $120. They ARE dying to keep their ST subscriber base up though.
  19. either add something of value here or get out of my thread.
  20. Ok, I'm going to use you as an example, but his isn't directed at you. I wouldn't give it to you either. The people gaming the system call up and "ask for things". I can see asking to match a deal being currently offered by FIOS, Dish, or cable, but the 1st sign that someone is asking for free football, I would go tell you and anyone else to go pound sand. I called and said "cancel my service". Period. When they offered a discount, I said "no cancel my service". They they offered another one and I said "no, cancel my service". And we did a few rounds of this. I wasn't milking them for anything and they could have, at any time, said, sure and honored my request. I would have been fine with that because I am/was legitimately leaving.
  21. well, it isn't really free totally. It ultimately will cost me $120 for the ST, a base programming package for 4 months, and DVR service. Which is $80 more than I plan to spend with NFL game rewind.
  22. what are you talking about?
  23. 1st of all, not to get all moral here, but I'm not a real big fan of calling up a company and pretending that I am dissatisfied, just to get discounts. I don't know, that just doesn't seem right to me. Anyway, I already canceled the ST last week and today I called to cancel my DTV service all together, because I got FIOS Triple Play. So, I was legitimately leaving and this was their best effort to keep me (or should I say their best effort to keep their ST subscriber base up). I may still leave, but I'll think about it for a few more hours.
  24. yeah, well - what did he ever accomplish? I always thought his grape jelly was overrated as a kid.
