Jon Bon Jovi blames Steve Jobs for killing the music business
SDS replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
A couple of notes. Jobs is just the messenger. Apple was late for the digital music train. They just came up with the best engine. It was going to happen anyway. The sheer convenience of it all was a trade most people were/are willing to make. Vinyl only means snap/crackle/pop. The only thing good about it was the larger album art. Creed was not a product of the music labels. They were turned down by everyone. Some dude had to sell all his possessions to finance the band. They were self-made, whether you liked them or not... -

Wrestling is both an individual sport and a team sport. When you get to states it is all individual. It is insulting for anyone to suggest that a small school kid can't beat a large school kid. The same knuckleheads who think boys should wrestle girls are the same ones handing out state champion medals like participation trophies in kids soccer. There should be 13 boys who stand shoulder to shoulder representing the finest NYS has to offer. Anything else is a disservice to those boys who busted their asses like no other athlete to be the best.
-
NYS ruined their state tournament when they decided to divide the tournament up into small/large schools and have two sets of "champions". Maybe the NFL should have two Super Bowls for small and large market teams?

yeah, try and find an old SkyMall catalog... you should be golden then!

High School Wrestler refuses to face female wrestler
SDS replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Reilly has to say that or he gets fired. It's political correctness. No one is allowed to stand up to these mindless fools. 95% of the support they get is fake. EVERY referee in MD would have given a girl and her parents support to their faces. 95% would tell you they should get the hell out their sport behind their backs. No one wants to be fired. No one wants complaints against them, so they just tow the PC line all the while saying things that I won't type here... My son wrestled one season when he was six, but it really wasn't his gig. He's 10 now and we never talk about the sport... I decided to pop the question to him and see what his opinion was... Me: Andrew. Do you remember when you used to wrestle? Andrew: Yep. Me: How would you feel if you had to wrestle a girl? Andrew: I wouldn't like it. Me: What do you mean? Andrew: I wouldn't want to do it. Me: Why? Andrew: Because. Me: Because why? Andrew: I don't know. Because it's not right... Me: What about boys. Would you wrestle other boys? Andrew: Sure! Me: But not girls? Andrew: No. It's not right. Now, totally by coincidence - my 6 year old daughter had 2 boys over today ages 5 and 6. My daughter suggested they wrestle and the 5-year old said, "Sure!". But he then told my daughter she needed to referee. I asked him why (because of this thread) and the 5-year old said, "Because you aren't supposed to fight girls..." So there you go. A 5-year old and a 10-year old with more common sense than all these "progressive parents" and spineless athletic directors. THEY get it. -
sure he did. Every time he said I own everything you posted to everyone who has posted!

High School Wrestler refuses to face female wrestler

Yes I did. I really don't care what she wants. If there isn't an interest in girls wrestling then she should to do something else. Equality is not the goal in every situation and in many cases it is undefinable. If there is a sport, a competition, an activity where the goal for man is to beat a woman - it might just be the 1st. A girl wrestling is the ANTITHESIS of everything the sport represents to a boy. I sure as hell didn't bust my ass in some of the most grueling practices you can endure because I longed to beat a girl in front of my high school. The only thing fun about wrestling was kicking the ass of another guy who thought he could kick yours. NONE of that exists when a girl walks out on the mat. I don't know of another modern day sport where a person openly refuses to compete against their component like this situation. THAT is how ridiculous it is for her to be there. -
he said obscure and Magic Power was a pretty big hit...

High School Wrestler refuses to face female wrestler

This story makes my blood boil. I tip my cap to Joel... I wrestled varsity for 5 years in HS and I would have forfeited too. Shame on EVERY SINGLE ADULT that has let this abomination happen over the years. She has no business being on that mat. None. Wrestling a girl in competition is NOT what Joel signed up for. It is not what any of us ever signed up for. Trying to FORCE this on those young boys in an unconscionable act of sheer ignorance coupled with profound stupidity. How serious is this? Joel Northup, ranked 5th in the state of Iowa decided NOT to wrestle her. And y'all need to comprehend that for a moment. Y'all need to think for a moment of what Joel just said there. I would bet my bottom dollar Joel would have wrestled ANY boy, of any race, any orientation, having any physical disability, being different from him in any way shape or form... As long as that BOY stepped on the mat - Joel would have walked out there and did his best (which in Iowa means kicking ass). The only thing preventing this boy, who was 35-4, from wrestling that day was a girl walking on the mat. THAT is how serious the situation is. THAT is how uncomfortable that situation makes some boys. And THAT is what you need to empathize with as you seek to understand what that boy was thinking. Think about what he walked away from and how serious it was to him in order to make the decision not to wrestle. As for the girl... Do any of you realize the discussions that happen in a wrestling room? For those ignorant fools like Rick Reilly, who just want people to treat her "like one of the boys" - does that mean he endorses causing pain to her genitals? Because boys are taught to inflict pain anywhere they can. The discussions in the wrestling room in a situation like this will often go to controlling the arm of the opponent through the opponent's own legs - at which point you drive their head into the mat, lift up on the arm you are controlling and jamb your thumb between the legs. And it goes on and on... This is what fathers, school administrators want to expose these girls to? School sanctioned boy on girl abuse? Retards. You don't put people in this situation - period. You don't make people like Joel have to decide what is right or wrong. You don't put girls at risk of some over-aggressive boy taking their anger out on her for encroaching in a place where she has no business being. Get enough girls to start a team or get enough in the area to start a club. Leave the boys alone. -
Actually you can't buy the old ones save for a very few select stars.

Does anyone know why we are getting a flood of registrations today?
SDS replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude. I think that is it. It all started minutes after Rosen-boy posted that... -
I'm going to close this thread now, because quite frankly I can't stomach thinking about some of the shameless trash we have around here. It would be better for all of us if some people kept their opinions to themselves.

Modrak gets endorsement from RW & Buddy Nix
SDS replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, that is a couple pieces of evidence, but clearly not the whole story. What is maddening about this whole conversation is that Ralph fires people all the time. ALL THE TIME. Head Coaches, Assistant coaches, Presidents, GMs,... you name it. Yet no one will admit that this guy must be sticking around for a reason. What would that be? Ralph admitted the team hasn't drafted well, and he has fired everyone else in the past 10 years. So while we can make judgments from outside the organization and draw simplistic correlations about Modrak's abilities - Ralph has clearly decided Modrak has not underperformed despite the lack of drafting success. Clearly, if the simplistic correlations told the whole story - he would be gone with everyone else. So, maybe we just don't know the whole story and people will just have to live with that fact for now. -
ESPN - What it costs to field winner

Read much? "Page 2 contributor Patrick Hruby ventured to find out by comparing dollars spent with games won -- the financial and on-field bottom lines to determine "Bang for the Buck." " Maybe you should leave reading comprehension of sports articles to people who understand complex entities like letters and words better than you obviously do? -
Dusty Zeigler was his left tackle that day. That offensive line lineup was absurd. Johnson did as well as could be expected against that defense with that supporting cast.

the only small upside of this recession is the death of publicly financed stadiums. In fact, I think the NFL knows this and this is what their extra fund goes to support in the previous CBA and what they want to increase in any new deal. I don't think one red cent should ever come out of a tax-payer's pocket again for anything for the NFL.
