  1. There's nothing to discuss. He's been here for almost 13 years and hosts our tailgate party. He has also welcomed all the TBD tailgaters displaced from the new parking policies. He's a friend/advocate/resource of the site, a friend the people who post here, and is a valued community member.
  2. Tons of fun - don't miss out! Pick 'em: http://football.fant...ister/joingroup Group: 40651 Pass: 2013 Survivor: http://football.fant...ister/joingroup Group: 20452 Pass: 2013
  3. I'm getting in late due to soccer games.
  4. Hammer. I'll need a prime spot, but I want to do something different this year. I want to create a U shape section. One line against the road and then the next row where you would normally put a line of cars, I'd like to buy those spots and leave them empty. The space has been too fragmented in recent years, leaving 1/3 of the people here and a 1/3 there, etc... Please give priority to the cooking people for the spots that back to the inside of the U.
  5. FedEx Field is to stadiums as a trailer home is to mansions. It is an armpit that screams cheapness at every turn. They built that thing for pennies and took a step or two below builder's grade on the options. And there is no 30 year wait on season tickets. That died a decade ago: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2013/02/27/the-redskins-season-ticket-pitch/
  6. [This is an automated response] As a courtesy to the other board members, please use more descriptive subject lines. The topic starter can edit the subject line to make it more appropriate. Thank you.
  7. Examine quality of the preseason? Uh... They don't know this already? Let me help: Garbage product. Confiscatory prices. Alienation of season ticket holders.
  8. So, I went into Famous Dave's (BBQ chain) to pick up a TOGO order and I strike up a conversation with the young, female cashier. She claims: - 20-25% of people leave tips. - They split all tips with the people working the TOGO station. At that moment it was three. - They get paid "a little more" than the dining room servers, but LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE. This is only one data point and doesn't pertain to all other places that have TOGO. But it shows there are popular places that pay the TOGO staff less than minimum wage. Now, I suppose I could have been a royal jackass and wave a Droid proudly displaying an electronic copy of a book by "Emily Post", dead for over a half-century, and tell her "Sorry, Emily Post says that I'm not obligated to tip you..., but could you include some extra sauce please?" I chose to leave a tip instead. She smiled big and said thank you...
  9. In reality, I would like a sharp banner that didn't feature any players.
  10. I know... I have a bunch of updates to do. Sorry...
  11. Whoa. Roommate? A female roommate? When did this happen?
  12. To each his own, but other than being cheerful what else does he offer? He's not informative. He's not well read. He's not really funny. He's not an interesting conversationalist. He's basically the Coors Light of talk show hosts. Meh.
  13. Maybe so. As I stated before, I think the criticism of him is overblown. How Bulldog gets a pass for hemming and hawing all show long, trying to remember things out loud that he can't, constantly saying "I don't know", and otherwise just occupying airspace with trivial commentary is beyond me.
  14. I have no doubt in my mind Mike Schopp is an order of magnitude smarter than Bulldog. So, he should be intimidated.
  15. You seem to have sausage and balls on your mind. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  16. And yet he doesn't bother me in the least. I have generally found criticism of him to be over blown. I'm equally as frustrated with the same callers he is, so I get it when he cuts off a bad one. Attitude or schtick doesn't bother me nearly as much as just not having any idea what you are taking about. You know, like being an IT guy and misinforming others that macs can't use multi button mice. You kind of lose your credibility.
  17. "Hmmm...." What are you contemplating there Einstein? Your next high-tech article about how macs can't use multi-button mice? How the iPods were doomed when they failed to include an FM radio? Is this where I insert the laughing icon? BTW, Emily Post died 50 years ago, but hey I'm sure there is a tremendous amount of "etiquette research" done at the institute that scabs off her name....
  18. I rarely, if ever complain about talk show hosts. I get what they are trying do. I understand the format and the dynamics involved. They all try to carve out a niche. They are what they are. With that said, Bulldog is probably the least prepared person I have ever heard on the radio. It's like he walks into the studio and has no idea what the topics are for the day. What he offers is what he can think of off the top of his head and that amounts to a dinner of dry rice cakes. Sal is leagues above Bulldog. Even Bulldogs nickname lacks any type of originality or effort.
  19. Your take on money is about as worthwhile as your take on electronics. Which is to say worthless. I doubt there isn't a take a penny dish you haven't dived into.
  20. Pick your link. http://www.chow.com/food-news/55584/should-you-tip-on-takeout/
  21. As a father of a middle school boy, this is utterly terrifying. Although illogical, as a parent you want to believe that if you do the right things then it will turn out the right way. I can not imagine going through what you're going through. There but the grace of God go I. Whenever you need to clear your mind, DC is a nice place to visit or whatever else floats your boat. I'll have my secretary clear my schedule.
  22. I tip on take-out - every single time, but for pizza. We've covered this here before, but I'm too lazy to look it up. That bag of food didn't just appear. Someone took your order, made your salad (without onions, extra tomatoes, and dressing on the side), packed up your dinner so it wouldn't spill, packed your utensils, napkins and sauces. Then they checked that your order was complete. THEN when you received your bag. There is also a lot of back and forth about who has to work those shifts and what they get paid for doing so. Those servers are no different than the ones that wait on your sit down dinners, other than performing less per customer for more customers. So, I tip $2 to $4 on my takeout. It's not 15-20%, but I didn't receive 15-20% service. However, I DID receive service and quite often by people paid as wait staff, but not getting a normal shift to make their tip money. Argue all you want for your personal cheapness, and argue you will, but try doing a search or two about this and maybe you'll think differently.
  23. That might have been better. Doh. FWIW, I didn't close it, but concurred it was an issue and it would need to be closed. I'm wondering if that thread wasn't the cause of draft day issues. All it takes is for one happy clicker to keep loading it...
  24. We had to close it because it takes the server 21 seconds to load that thread every time someone views it, as opposed to the normal 0.2 seconds. Just a reality. It was loading all 15k messages on every view.
