Today I got confirmation from John's son that @John from Riverside (formerly from Hemet and VA) passed away in August from an unexpected heart attack. John was a daily mainstay in our lives here for over two decades. 47,292 posts and that's just from when we started counting in 2006 or so. He was getting ready to pack his bags and move to live with son in Oregon when he passed. Mysteriously, he last logged in March 8th. I had tried to connect with him several times per month since his disappearance, as there wasn't any public reason why he hadn't logged in. Unfortunately, we could not make contact with him or his family until the note I received today.
John was a fiercely loyal Bills fan, despite never making it to Orchard Park. We had tentative plans to get him out for this year's tailgate, when he started mentioning health issues. We never got a chance to meet.
John was an interesting guy. His deep love for the team made for some emotionally charged discussions. He never met a UDFA he didn't love, nor a ref he didn't hate and rage against their bias. His most well known story goes back to very early days of the community. The community troll (we had no moderating tools back then) liked to have fun with John given John's proclivity to emotional outbursts. This culminated in "Hogboy" challenging John to a helmet-spearing contest in a parking lot. John took this seriously and was ready to strap it on! 😂
John frequently told us about his interesting life. He was in the air force in Iraq where he often told us about his high-level security clearance and attending intelligence briefs. He was a roadie for the Scorpions. He loved his kids and always had dreams of his son making the NFL and his daughter becoming an actress/singer. We would hear about the constant shuttling of his daughter to auditions where he would name drop with best of them. IIRC, he had plenty of stories about Katy Perry, Madonna, Celine Dion, etc...
He was a great sport in the shoutbox as the guys there enjoyed ribbing on some of the peculiarities. Topics on conversation included his frequent visits to Subway on campus where he was a grad student advisor, his love of Latina women, and a rotting toe that he proclaimed grew back after disregarding his doctor's advice and he just starting running on it. 😂
Ultimately, John was a great guy who absolutely loved his kids, loved the Bills, and loved the community here. I regret we didn't make plans to meet a year earlier.
We are fortunate he decided to make his home here and he will be missed.
Go Bills!

Thats true….and like most of us I thought at the time, why hand the ball to the QB on the left side of the line if everyone was already lured that way. Watching it again, I’m convinced that he was actually supposed to roll RIGHT. Dawkins misses the block, Samuel is blown up on the lateral, and Josh has to reverse direction. A total mess!
100% he was supposed to roll to his right side. The wildcat was supposed to move everyone to the left and Josh was going to run against the grain. But the line collapsed and he had to turn around and go back to his left. At that point he should’ve just ran out of bounds.there was nothing wrong with the play call per se. The execution was beyond horrible.

Thought it was enough to show negative number to show it would not match your requirements. Best to not move to Canada or most other countries since they are filled with hippies.
It's just a joke inspired by the Big Bang Theory...

With over 2,100 hours of sunshine, and only 15 inches of rain annually, the area has a comfortable climate year round.
The days are shorter in winter but temperatures can still reach highs of up to 5°C with an average low of just -4°C from December to February, and up to an average high of 15°C in October and April.
Celsius? I didn't ask any hippies for an opinion.

Surprised no one has said Savannah, Georgia yet. Warm year round. Great food, has a plethora of golf courses, near all kinds of beaches and has the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport or Charleston Airport a couple hours away.
i’m not gonna look this up at the moment, but I don’t think the Hilton head airport qualifies as a hub. I am all about the nonstop flights. As many places as I can get to with one leg is where I want to be. -

San Diego is awesome…. But expensive!! Not sure how you survive there!
if you buy a house 40 years ago it’s super easy. I just need to get a time machine first. 🙄what do people think about downtown Manhattan?

Um...How about suburban Rochester? Rochester weather now is like Maryland was 20 years ago. Past 2 years I've only shoveled 2x per year, all 4 of those I was saying to myself "better do it now before the snow melts." Gave my snow blower to my brother who lives in Tonawanda, he needs it more than I do.
Last year golfed right up till Thanksgiving. Many private, semi private, and public courses to choose from. Semi privates are probably the best value. I belong to an entry level private club as well as a men's club at a public course. All 3 of the county owned public courses have private men's clubs with privileges like preferred weekend tee times and 8-10 tournaments a year. $450 you can play all 3 county courses, over 62 you can pay $7 for 9 or $9 for 18 walking. And oh yeah, we have water!!
As to North Carolina, just ask my brother who lives in Asheville how he's enjoyed the past 36 hours. At his last check in a couple hours ago he had no power, over 12 inches of rain and it was starting to pick up.
let me know when they do something about 350 days of cloud cover. 😃- 2

How do you not have a Bills Backers bar on the list of your requirements?
nah. I haven’t been to a bills backers bar in 15 to 20 years. Home is just fine.11 minutes ago, Draconator said:My wife and I (Eventually) are going to be buying a winter home in Laurel, Mississippi. About 35 minutes north of Hattiesburg.
great golf environment, - Mighty fine golf courses in Hattiesburg, and Mississippi has the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, 9 premium golf courses spread out through Mississippi and Alabama
high-speed Internet, - Many options available. It ain't the rural south (although you'll be traveling through the rural south between the two towns
within two hours of a major airport hub - New Orleans - 1 1/2 to 2 hours away. Jackson, Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee are also options.
Preferably 12 month weather that’s above 45 deg. - The last time we were there, in February, we had temps in the high 50's on some days, and in the 80's on other days.
when people say Mississippi, Alabama, etc. I think healthcare (or lack of). I also may not be allowed in those states for a variety of other reasons. Lol- 1

Was in the Sedona area for a week last spring and realllly liked it.
Sunshine year round, a lot of things to do both nearby and within an hour or two, open highways, plenty of room for expansion, Phoenix and Flagstaff within an hour or two, etc....
Definitely had me thinking about the potential for living there 9 months/year and spending summers split between traveling and at our camp back East.
I've had a beer in 48 different states and that was one of nicest areas I've ever been to.
I don’t think I could commit to anywhere that doesn’t have water. Lol seems like a important thing to consider.2 hours ago, BuffaloBud said:Lived in Raleigh for 8 years. Have snow on ground on Monday - playing golf in Pinehurst area on Saturday.
so far Pinehurst is the one that ticks most of the boxes. -
Requirements:
great golf environment,
high-speed Internet,
within two hours of a major airport hub
Preferably 12 month weather that’s above 45 deg.
what do you guys have?

He’s not autistic. He’s an arrogant, pretentious douchebag.
The fake tan (so he can double down on being African American for job security), the stupid oversized watches, the ridiculous looking glasses … everything he does is either because it’s “in” or because it helps with his ridiculous “identity.”
He’s an a-hole.
did you ever consider that it is a regular sized watch and maybe he has a dainty wrist? -

I see above that spaces are $60. Is that for Generic or Prime? Is there a certain arrival time required for either Generic or Prime to secure the spot?
I'd like 2 spaces and will update on Generic vs. Prime as soon as I have clarification.
Thank you!
no price difference. Prime will get closed pretty early this year as it doesn’t look like we’re gonna fill up the 25 spaces or so. I’m trying to remember and past years but I bet it’s closed by 8 AM.- 1
