The Bills used three different players to handle that job last season, but I’m sure they’re hoping former first-round pick Kaiir Elam steps up and becomes an every down player. As a rookie last season, Elam was on the field for just 45% of the snaps.’

‘With the injury to Hines, the Bills now have an open competition for kick and punt returning duties once the team opens training camp on Wednesday.’

‘Murray may have already made the team, but with Hines as the return man, he’d also be occupying a spot in the running back room, giving the team added depth. Now, Murray could be that player, especially if they elect to go with either Deonte Harty or Khalil Shakir as their main punt returner.’

‘Evans was a former third-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Appalachian State. Evans has also spent time with the Chicago Bears before signing with the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. He was waived by the Colts in May after spending just over a month with the organization.’

‘“We’ve had some great fortune the last few years, but when is that going to dry up whether it’s going to be from injuries or from turnover, age and I feel it going into year nine like how many more opportunities do I have personally, so I think everyone is having that talk to themselves and we’re just marching along and trying to take every advantage possible.”’

‘At 6-foot-1, 224 pounds, Bernard is considered undersized for the position. However, he has great instincts and recognition and is considered an excellent coverage linebacker, something the Bills really value in their backers.’

‘Until then, veterans and “first-year players” will take part in strength and conditioning, as well as meetings at the team’s facility at One Bills Drive in Orchard Park. First-year players are defined in the collective bargaining agreement as any player who has not yet accrued one year of credited service.’

‘Torrence was a really nice pickup by the Bills for where they were able to draft him. Many considered him a first-round talent. He’ll obviously make the 53-man roster, but from there, it will be interesting to see how high he can climb on the depth chart.’
