Scoreboard watching? McDermott and players discuss situation Sunday in Miami
‘“We’re going to talk about it, just in terms of like I talked about here, big picture perspective,” he said. “Hey, let’s state the obvious. I’m not going to ignore it, and then we’ll move forward and talk about our fundamentals and our mindset and us growing as a football team, just like we do every week, really.”’
Pegula: ‘I don’t know what’s going on, but we have to fix it’
‘”Replay was developed by this league to correct obvious mistakes. If you’ve got to look at a play 30 times from 5 different angles and keep looking at it… you go with the call on the field. It’s what the league’s been doing ever since replay started… I don’t know what’s going on, but we have to fix it. And I’m not saying that as the owner of the Bills, I’m saying it as a football fan. We can’t have stuff like this happening in our league.”‘
Eric Wood: “We can’t let bad calls affect us.”
‘”I want the calls to be correct. We had 2 tough calls go against us on Sunday, that’s why you’re hearing Terry Pegula talk about it today. We’re not happy about it either, but we can’t let it affect us.”‘
McDermott not satisfied with NFL explanations of Benjamin call
‘”No. I’m not. I’m at a loss, I remain at a loss based on their explanation during the game and today. Just want consistency, in terms of rules. So, that there’s clarity on a week to week basis.”‘
Bills release DT Deandre Coleman, place two on IR
‘Coleman joined the Bills active roster on November 19th, after being released by the Bills after the preseason. Coleman suited up for 6 games and accumulated 7 total tackles as a Bill this season.’
Bills’ 2018 opponents confirmed
‘The NFL’s rotating schedule has them facing the entire AFC South and NFC North next season, as well as the AFC West and North teams which finish in the same place as they do. The Chargers and Ravens are locked into second place in those divisions. The location of each game was predetermined via rotation.’
Patriots outlast the Bills 37-16
‘Even with the loss, the Bills are still alive in the playoff hunt. They will need to win next week against Miami, and get some help on the out of town scoreboard. One way they can get in is, beat Miami and get a loss from the Ravens against the Bengals.’
Bills do the expected, but I’m still angry
‘Let’s move on to Dennison. First off, I need to point out a statistic: The Bills offense has not scored a touchdown in the second half of the last five games. One wonders what Dennison and the offensive staff are doing at halftime and what kind of adjustments they are making in game because it’s producing nothing.’
NFL moves Bills at Dolphins Week 17 game to 4:25 p.m.
‘Two other games that have implications for the Bills’ playoff chances were also moved: Cincinnati at Baltimore and Jacksonville at Tennessee. In order to make the postseaon, the Bills need to win their game at Miami then have either the Ravens lose to the Bengals or have both the Titans lose to the Jaguars AND the Chargers lose to the Raiders. The Raiders at Chargers game was already scheduled for 4:25 p.m.’
Capaccio: Bills-Patriots: Arrow Up/Arrow Down
‘Head coach Sean McDermott elected to try for a 50-yard field goal on 4th-and-1 from the Patriots’ 32-yard line, down a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Kicker Stephen Hauschka missed it, giving New England the ball at their own 40-yard line. They essentially put the game away with a touchdown seven plays later. But McDermott’s decision made it easier for that to happen. He had been aggressive and went for it on fourth down earlier in the game when it was tied. Even though it was still early in the fourth quarter, the offense had yet to score a touchdown and it was clear they were going to need one at some point. They needed one yard to gain. A field goal from 50 yards out in cold weather is tough for any kicker. And even if Hauschka had made it they would still be down four, and still needing a touchdown at some point.’
Bills/Patriots preview: notes and stats
‘LB Preston brown had team-high 10 tackles in Week 15. Aims for 6th in row with 7+ tackles.’
Dawkins: Left tackle is ‘my favorite position on the field’
‘“Playing with a lot of pressure always keeps me on my toes and up on my game,” Dawkins said. “I am one of those players that like that intenseness on a daily basis.”’
McDermott: ‘There are no moral victories’
‘“We lost the game,” he told reporters Wednesday afternoon, referring back to that 23-3 Patriots’ victory in Orchard Park. “It’s about winning and losing. It’s about winning football games, that’s what we’re here to do. We’re not here for moral victories.”’
McCoy heads list of Bills heading to Pro Bowl
‘Incognito heads to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in his career, and the third straight year as a member of the Bills.’
