‘”I just think that there’ll be teams that make calls on him. If you’re a team that needs a running back why not call the Buffalo Bills and try to get something done. I think other teams (other than the Eagles) have called on LeSean McCoy. There will be more teams that call on LeSean McCoy by next week. My prediction is when we have this conversation next Wednesday on Halloween, my prediction is he’ll be the biggest name that gets traded.”‘

Capaccio: Examining trade possibilities for McCoy, Benjamin, Hughes, Lawson
‘At McCoy’s age and position, he wouldn’t normally fetch much from another team. However, this is a potential future Hall of Fame player who takes very good care of his body and probably still has multiple good years left in him if put in the right situation.’
Trapasso – Allen is playing like your typical rookie quarterback
‘”I think he was playing like your typical or average rookie quarterback who does have the talent and can see why he was picked in the first round. I think the game, the speed of defenses, whether he was playing good defenses or bad defenses, he wasn’t really acclimated to that yet. And there were times where there were some open receivers and open first reads that he wasn’t pulling the trigger on. Then there were times in small little flashes that he was doing that.”‘
McCoy still in concussion protocol, Anderson will start again at QB
‘Defensive end Trent Murphy left the game late with knee injury. McDermott said he’s week-to-week, but wouldn’t rule out Murphy playing Monday night against the New England Patriots, saying “we’ll see” when asked.’
McDermott – In Buffalo, you’ve got to be able to run the football
‘”Let’s face it, where we live, in Buffalo, you’ve got to be able to run the football, play blue collar football and win at the line of scrimmage. That said, as the game has evolved over the years, it’s become a pass driven league. You need to be able to throw the ball from a dropback standpoint when you have to throw the ball. Whether it’s two minute or third downs or the red zone, those are big parts of game.”‘
Kyle Williams – We didn’t do a good enough job
‘”We’re not where we wanted to be… We’ve had a tough first half, we’ve been on the road a lot, we’re kind of coming home. A good bit of our back half of the season is at home and we want to play well at home… The only way to get through it is to work your tail off and work your way through it.”‘
Bills sputter to 2-5 on the year, lose to the Colts 37-5
‘While the offense had another poor day, the Bills defense was also ripped apart, especially in a disastrous second quarter that blew the doors open.’
Yikes.
‘If you didn’t laugh you’d cry.’
What was I thinking?
‘Perhaps the defense is cracking under the strain of having to carry this team and knowing they have very little margin for error. In addition to losing one on one battles, there were breakdowns in coverage and missed tackles. A defense that had 11 takeaways and 15 sacks in the last four games came up with a goose egg in both of those categories against Indianapolis, which snapped a four game losing streak. It marked the first time since Sean McDermott took over as head coach that his defense was shutout in sacks and takeaways in the same game.’
Sal’s Sticks: Bills at Colts
‘Of course plenty of other things happened which cost the Bills, but they were trailing only 6-0 and moving the ball well when Clay fumbled it away at the Colts’ 22 yard line and Indianapolis recovered. Then they scored another touchdown on the ensuing drive. Had Clay held on to the ball there, you can’t help but think how things might have played out a bit differently.’
Bills at Colts: Sal’s keys, notes and stats
‘The Bills’ defense has been among the best in the league over the last four weeks. After a rough start to the season, they’ve done a complete 180-degree turn and have, for the most part, shut offenses down, or at least kept them in check enough to give their own offense a chance to win a low-scoring game. They are finally getting to the passer and creating turnovers the way they had hoped. But Sunday presents a much different challenge in Colts’ QB Andrew Luck, who is on pace to shatter the all-time record for pass attempts in a season. And it looks like he will have his No. 1 go-to wide receiver T.Y. Hilton available after Hilton missed time dealing with a hamstring injury.’
Robert Foster clears waivers, joins Bills practice squad
‘Both Foster (from Alabama) and Phillips (Virginia Tech) were added to the Bills this offseason as undrafted rookie free agents. Foster made the 53-man roster out of training camp, while Phillips wound up on the Bills practice squad.’
Bills promote WR Cam Phillips to 53-man roster, release WR Robert Foster
‘Phillips was brought in this preseason as an undrafted rookie free agent from Virginia Tech. Phillips was stashed onto the Bills practice squad after losing out to Foster for a spot on the 53-man roster.’
Clayton – They needed a Derek Anderson earlier
‘”You know I worry about (Josh) Allen. I think that he’s going to be a great quarterback but he’s not ready yet. And I worried he was going to get the injury, and he got another injury… They needed a Derek Anderson earlier than later. I’m just glad they now have Derek Anderson to put in there and at least give Allen a chance to recover.”‘
Bills name Derek Anderson starter at QB for Sunday
‘Originally a sixth round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2005 NFL Draft, Anderson has played twelve NFL seasons with the Browns, Cardinals, and Panthers, last serving in a backup role in Carolina to Cam Newton for the first seven years of Newton’s career. His last start came on December 4, 2016. Last season, Anderson appeared in only three games, throwing only eight passes. For his career, Anderson has started 47 games, throwing 60 touchdowns and 60 interceptions.’
