‘While many of you are probably angry at Peterman(there was a lot of cursing in the same sentence with his name on my twitter feed), you should direct your anger at the Bills brain trust of Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane. I don’t know why Peterman made it past his first season with the Bills. While he was the best quarterback in the pre season and won the competition, his disastrous opening day start should have sealed his fate on the Bills roster. If this performance doesn’t do it I don’t know what will. I just don’t know what the Bills, and most likely its more McDermott than Beane, see in this kid.’

The Bills need to be done with Peterman and Benjamin
‘Derek Anderson had been available all season. Why wasn’t he brought in after the Baltimore game? Had they done that then, Peterman could be out of football and preparing for his new career, but McDermott’s blind spot won out and the Texans are now 3-3 instead of the Bills.’
This is what the Bills signed up for
‘The question now becomes just how much McDermott’s trust in an obviously flawed quarterback shakes your faith in his judgement overall.’
Sal’s Sticks: Bills at Texans
‘All of that adds up to this team once again being in “quarterback purgatory.” Not in a long-term sense whereas they don’t have someone on the roster they believe is the future franchise QB and are never drafting high enough to get one, but in the short-term sense (they could be in the long-term, too, but it’s just too early for those declarations). They have that guy in Allen (which no one knows how that will turn out and it’s way too early to judge), but right now, he’s just not ready to run the offense and throw the ball accurate enough and consistent enough to put points on the board. It’s clear the coaching staff doesn’t even trust him to do that yet. But they also don’t have anyone else they can turn to who can. That’s why he’s starting in the first place. Maybe Anderson is that guy? But here we go again with the question of whether or not it’s worth inserting the veteran into the staring lineup at the expense of giving Allen valuable time needed on the field.’
Bills at Texans: Sal’s keys, notes and stats
‘The Bills’ offense has to somehow find a way to block J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney or it’s going to be a long day for them, and maybe specifically quarterback Josh Allen. Watt is back to his dominant self after injuries had slowed him for a couple years. He’s tied for the NFL lead with six sacks (his brother T.J. is one of players he’s tied with), shares the league lead with Khalil Mack with four forced fumbles, and is tied for fourth in tackles for loss with seven. Clowney is second on the Texans with 2.5 sacks and six tackles for loss.’
Injury updates on White, Hyde, Bush, and Texans quarterback Watson
‘White had a flare-up of an ankle injury at Monday’s practice, but there doesn’t seem to be too much concern over his availability for Sunday. Guard John Miller was a new addition to the injury report Thursday with an ankle issue. The final injury report and game status for each player will be released after practice Friday.’
Johnson: Playing in the slot has been ‘a change for me’
‘“I just kind of read the quarterbacks eyes, and based off of how our defense is supposed to be played,” Johnson said with Howard Simon and Jeremy White on Thursday. “So I just read the quarterback’s vision and he happened to throw the ball right where I broke.”’
Injury updates on Bills’ CB Tre’Davious White, safeties Hyde and Bush, Texans QB Deshaun Watson
‘Safeties Hyde (groin) and Bush (shoulder) both missed last week’s win over the Tennessee Titans. Dean Marlowe started next to Jordan Poyer. Both played every defensive snap. On Monday Marlowe was released, then brought back to the practice squad on Wednesday after clearing waivers. That could be a good indication that McDermott feels either Hyde, Bush, or both will be available for Sunday’s game at the Houston Texans.’
Harris: “It might end up being Brandon Weeden against Josh Allen”
‘”I think it is going to be a game-time decision. The shot that he took, I mean you guys saw on television; I saw it from yards away. I saw his helmet go up by his mouth, his eyes rolled back and I went, ‘oh, man, he’s taking a pounding’. I just don’t know that they can even take the chance after what happened last year [torn ACL in practice] and put him out there against your defense that is potentially faster and more physical than what we saw against Dallas. He says he’s ready to go. If he does, he hasn’t practiced much at all this week so there’s going to be a bit of rust that he’ll encounter early in this game.”‘
McDermott won’t confirm or deny if Eagles have contacted team about McCoy
‘When asked if incoming calls become more frequent as the trade deadline gets close, McDermott said, “Yeah, it does. I’m not the one fielding most of those calls. That falls under Brandon’s job description, if you will. So I would just imagine they do, it’s just kind of logical sense.”’
Clayton: “The plan should be to get Derek Anderson ready and put him in as the starting QB”
‘”The plan should be to get him up to speed as quick as possible, and in maybe a week or two put him in as the starting quarterback. [Buffalo would] be better served to have another QB in there. That guy cannot be Nathan Peterman.”‘
Trade winds on McCoy to the Eagles begin to pick up
‘What about for the Bills? How much sense does it make to ship away your most accomplished and dynamic offense weapon, in an offense that is severely lacking players that can make someone miss in the open field. How much sense does it make to trade your starting running back on a team that is trying to protect their rookie starting quarterback from being thrust into the fire. One Eagles radio host believes the Bills at least are entertaining the idea, because they have a price in mind.’
Bills sign Anderson; release Marlowe
‘“I think [Anderson> provides that [veteran presence>, or would provide it if it gets that far. It’s important that we try to do that in every room – that you have a veteran player that offers a great example not only on the field, but off the field, as well, to what it should look like. We’re not there from a roster standpoint yet to be able to do that in every room potentially, but that’s the vision for the roster and in this case, for the quarterback room.”’
Kyle Williams – The new rules go toward offensive production
‘”Most of the rule changes over the last decade, 5 years, however far back you want to go, they are slighted towards offensive production. You can’t touch a receiver past 5 yards. You can’t put your body weight on a quarterback.”‘
Anderson visits Bills, but nothing finalized yet
‘Mortensen also tweeted that the Bills had been looking at several quarterbacks, including former Pittsburgh Steelers signal-caller Landry Jones and former Denvers Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch, but that “the experience and familiarity with coach and GM has tilted in favor of Anderson.” McDermott and Bills general manager Brandon Beane were in Carolina for several years while Anderson served as the Panthers’ backup quarterback.’
