‘Beasley and Allen together likely don’t sit in the back of many football minds as a fierce 1-2 punch, but that’s because most people think Allen just wants to let it fly down field. But his target share coming back from injury last season after week 12 suggests he was more than willing to check it down to his slot receiver, he just didn’t have the necessary targets to do so consistently or effectively.’

Bills get physical in the rain
‘Practice got quite physical, especially for about a five-minute period with a couple big hits and then a fight. Safety Deane Marlowe was involved in both instances. First, he took a big shot from guard Jon Feliciano, who was blocking downfield, then he gave a shot to wideout Ray-Ray McCloud, which knocked the receivers’ helmet off. Immediately, several offensive players ran out on the field when it happened, and McCloud then turned into the crowd and threw some punches. After players dispersed, McCloud went to the sidelines to be looked at by trainers. He was back on the field shortly after.’
Daboll has all the confidence in Josh Allen
‘”Josh has made progress since he’s been here. He’s made progress throughout the OTAs and he’s made progress just in these four days. I have confidence in Josh. He’s a second-year player that has a good grasp of what we want to do, and this is the time to do it. There’s going to be times where you’re going to be out there practicing against our defense, who’s a good defense, and he’s going to learn as camp goes what throws to make and what throws he should maybe hang from. I want him to make those throws, and I want to try and make him throw in tight windows, on time and make the tough ones. That’s only going to make us better as we sit back and look at the tape to try and improve that.”‘
Frazier: Oliver is beginning to “come alive” with pads on
‘“Up to this point, you really see him begin to come alive with the pads on,” Frazier said. “It’s hard for the defensive lineman to practice without pads. It really limits them from what they can do. Ed’s game is about his explosion, his power and his quickness and we saw some of that the first day we put pads on. It’s a little bit of an adjustment for him coming from a scheme where he was pretty much lined up directly over the center. Now we have more to guard so there are some intricacies and some thing’s he’ll have to learn but it was good to see him be able to do what he’s capable of doing and that’s being able to explode off the football and use his quickness and his power which he hadn’t been able to do prior in the past.”’
Bills decide against Wall of Famer in 2019
‘Did you know that only one player has been selected for the Wall of Fame since Phil Hansen in 2011? It was Cookie Gilchrist in 2017 and that honor came way too late but that’s a whole different story. The Bills need to honor a deserving player in 2020 and that next player should be Eric Moulds.’
Bills sign TE Kyle Carter, release LB Juwan Foggie
‘To make room for Carter on the active roster, the Bills released linebacker Juwan Foggie.’
McDermott Confirms Injury to TE Knox
‘McDermott also confirmed a hamstring injury to TE Dawson Knox. The team is already without TE Jason Croom, who is also on the shelf due to a hamstring injury. Lee Smith is the next man up on the Depth Chart.’
Capaccio: Allen having more ups than downs through first four days of camp
‘The chemistry between QB Josh Allen and WR Cole Beasley started to show up much more than it had the previous three practices. Both were on the same page on several plays that resulted in completions for good gains.’
Allen-to-Brown combo on full display Saturday at Bills Camp
‘“John’s a great pro,” offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said before Saturday’s practice. “You know, there’s different forms of receivers. Some guys are just exclusively shifty guys that you can use and manipulate in the slot, and move around, and other guys have shiftiness but they also have speed. And even though John’s a little shorter, he has very good vertical speed, but he also has great balance and body control. The ability to break down and cut, as compared to (Cole Beasley) who’s got good speed, but not I would say John Brown speed, who’s a speeder, who’s shifty, and you can use him in different roles. John has flexibility to play inside and outside.”’
Snippets from Bills Camp – Day Three
‘”When you’ve got two good guys in front of you in Jordan Phillips and Star (Lotulelei) just taking me in and coaching me up on everything possible, just giving me one little thing to work on today. That’s mostly Jordan just giving me one thing every day, he asks me every day ‘what’s one thing you can get better at today?’ and I’ll tell him and go out here and most times I’ll get better.”‘
Kyle Peko battles for a roster spot, while his wife battles Hodgkin’s lymphoma
‘”She’s doing good now. As good as anybody could be taking it I guess. She’s strong, she’s a fighter, she knows that right now it’s temporary. She keeps fighting.”‘
Cody Ford starts at right tackle for second day in a row
‘That meant the starting five looked like this: LT Dion Dawkins, LG Quinton Spain, C Mitch Morse, RG Spencer Long, RT Cody Ford.’
McDermott – “I feel better about our football team this year at this time than last year”
‘“We need to respect what they’ve [the Patriots] been able to do over the number of years they’ve been able to do it for,” McDermott said. “That being said, we need to focus on ourselves. If we want to have a chance to challenge them, it really starts with focusing on ourselves and what we’re trying to get done each and every day at training camp, and how we’re building this team.”’
All About the Fan Experience for 20th Season at St. John Fisher
‘”Our main focus is the fan experience,” said Kearns. “Each year we’re kind of tweaking little things here and there to give our fans the most access and the best fan experience that we can. Whether it’s adding some new elements, some new photo opportunities and things like that, or opening up new areas along the field so that they have better views of practice.”‘
Offensive line competition in full swing as Bills open camp
‘Ideally, they’d love to have the unit set and know what they’re looking at by the time the third preseason game rolls around, but they also don’t want to jump the gun and make the wrong decision somewhere. There’s likely to be a heavy rotation throughout camp, especially the first two weeks before they play their first preseason game August 8 against the Indianapolis Colts. We may even see some players rotating every single day between the first and second team, much like last year they did at center with Russell Bodine and Ryan Groy.’
