‘If the belief is TCU WR Jalen Reagor has more tools than Tee Higgins, but Higgins is a few inches taller? That shouldn’t be the reason they go with Higgins.’

Sal’s State of the Bills: Offensive Line
‘It will be interesting to see what happens with Ford going forward. He and Nsekhe rotated at right tackle every couple series all season until Nsekhe was injured week eleven in Miami and missed the next five games. In that time, Ford manned the right tackle position by himself. The second round rookie was inconsistent, but got better as the season progressed. He had trouble with speed rushers on the outside. With a full off-season as a pro he should get better. But will it be good enough to continue to start at right tackle? Could the team even move him inside to guard, where he also played plenty in college and many projected him to play in the NFL? At the end-of-season press conference, general manager Brandon Beane would not commit either way, only saying they value his position flexibility.’
The Bills might already have their answer for RB2 on the team
‘There were fumbling issues during the summer for sure, but why in the final eight weeks when Gore averaged under 3.0 YPC seven times, did Yeldon not see any opportunity?’
Andre Roberts named to Pro Bowl
‘As the Bills primary kick returner this season, Roberts finished third in the NFL and second in the AFC in total kickoff return yards.’
Beane addresses Bills pending free agents, Senior Bowl process
‘The GM didn’t want to get into any specifics on any player, but said “We’ve said all along we want to draft, develop, and sign, and that clock has finally started.” He said there’s no rush to sign them right now and the team needs to go through their process of pending free agents first.’
The Josh Allen experience
‘While there were areas of improvement Allen obviously still has room for growth. Ball security was an issue early in the season and came back again in the final month of games. Like most young quarterbacks he needs to be better when pressured. Allen’s numbers were not great when pressured whether it was from a three man rush, four man rush or a blitz. He needs to stay calm, try and see there field and make the right play as opposed to spinning around and looking lost.’
Bills will see some of the “loaded” wide receiver class in Mobile
‘Many believe the Bills need a receiver with size. There are several participating this week in Mobile who fit that description, such as Claypool (6’4, 229), Gandy-Goldman (6’4, 220), and Johnson (6’6, 220).’
State of the Bills: Tight end
‘Heading into this offseason, some believe the Bills should look to add yet another tight end. I’m not as convinced. I think they have the kind of mix they want and that can be effective, especially with Kroft growing another year. Also, considering the money they spent on Kroft and Smith last offseason, paired with using two draft pick assets on Knox and Sweeney, including trading two fourth rounders to move into the third round for Knox, its hard to see them using even more premium assets and cash on the position again this offseason, especially with other more pressing needs.’
Tremaine Edmunds named to the Pro Bowl
‘One of the youngest starters in the entire league, Edmunds turned 21-years-old last May. He was selected 16th overall in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft after the Bills had seletced Josh Allen with the seventh overall pick that year.’
State of the Bills: Wide receiver
‘So here we are one year later, and the more things changed, the more they stayed the same. The Bills still need to add a top-end wide receiver talent. There may be some available in free agency, but this is supposed to be one of the best wide receiver drafts in many years, maybe ever. With fewer holes now than they had a year ago, that could be the way to go to make a big addition, or two.’
Ed Oliver named to All-Rookie Team by PFWA
‘The 22-year-old had a strong first season in the NFL with the Bills after being selected out of Houston with the ninth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Oliver was able to appear in all 16 regular season games this season, starting seven of them while registering 43 combined tackles, five sacks, five tackles for loss, eight quarterback hits, two passes defended and a forced fumble.’
State of the Bills: Running Back
‘If it wasn’t for an injury in week two which kept him out three games, Singletary would have most likely been in the Rookie of the Year conversation at the end of the season. As it was, he put up some terrific numbers in his first year as a pro, averaging 5.1 yards per carry, good for most in the entire NFL for any back with at least 150 carries, and 5th overall amongst all players. He also became the team’s featured back as the season went on, due to his impressive performances and Frank Gore’s ineffectiveness. There’s no reason Singletary won’t be the clear-cut number one back on the team headed into next season, and at only 22 years old and three years still remaining on his rookie contract, the future looks bright for both the player and position for the Bills. However, you need more than one running back in the NFL to have a fully formed offense, and the question will now become, “who joins Singleterry in the Bills backfield as the complimentary piece next season?”’
Tre’Davious White selected to All-NFL Team by PFWA
‘It’s the first such honor for White, who tied for the league lead with six interceptions this season with New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore (also chosen All-NFL and All-AFC) and the Vikings’ safety Anthony Harris (selected All-NFC).’
Sal’s State of the Bills: Quarterback
‘Barkley’s value is two-fold. He’s a veteran who they believe can get them through a few games if he needs to start, but has also been a good mentor and example for Allen. At the end of 2018, Barkley and Derek Anderson were both set to be a part of the team headed into training camp, surrounding Allen with two veterans he could continue to watch and learn from. But with Anderson’s retirement, that role fell squarely on Barkley, and he embraced it, while also being ready to play if needed. But Barkley will now enter the final year of his two-year contract, and the further Allen goes on his career the less he needs that veteran backup behind him. Barkley will be on the roster when the team reports to training camp, and should be the No. 2, but he’s also scheduled to make $2 million next season.’
Bills hire Eric Washington as defensive line coach
‘The 50-year-old got his NFL coaching career started in 2008 with the Chicago Bears, where he served as a defensive assistant under head coach Lovie Smith. Washington eventually became the defensive line coach in Chicago in 2010 before joining the Panthers one year later.’
