‘”The upper decks themselves need to be replaced,” Raccuia said. “The upper decks are $500 million just to replace them. That doesn’t count having to replace all the electric from the original construction, the plumbing, the corridors, the ADA seating… Our estimates to do a renovation is upwards of $1 billion. That doesn’t make sense when you can do a new stadium and it will be much more effective and sustainable long-term for not only the franchise, but the county and state as well.”‘

‘”No body on the outside is going to put more pressure on ourselves than we do, and we expect a lot out of ourselves,” Beane said. “Sometimes that’s not tallying wins and losses. Sometimes you can be a better team, but the way you dealt with injuries in the season, a tough run of the schedule, whatever it is. Everybody is prognosticating how good teams are going to be, but teams are so different every year. … We might look like a tough matchup for someone in November, but we might not be playing our best football then or we might be dealing with some injuries.”‘

‘Several players who have been dealing with injuries were back on the field in some capacity, including defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, cornerbacks Levi Wallace, Taron Johnson and Dane Jackson, as well as wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie.’

‘All of the players signed had been released by the team on Tuesday as part of their final roster cuts, including tight end Quintin Morris, who may not be that far away from being pressed into duty. The Bills released tight end Jacob Hollister, leaving only Tommy Sweeney on the depth chart behind starter Dawson Knox. Sweeney has been injured and didn’t play in the team’s final two preseason games.’

‘A league source has informed WGR that long snapper Reid Ferguson, who was released, will be re-signed to the active roster after procedural roster moves, including at least one player possibly placed on Injured Reserve.’

‘Hollister was signed by the Bills earlier this offseason in free agency after spending two seasons in Seattle with the Seahawks. It was expected that Hollister would compete for the second tight end spot on the depth chart behind third-year tight end Dawson Knox.’

‘Perhaps the most notable player reported to be released in these round of cuts is cornerback Cam Lewis, according to Matt Parrino from Syracuse.com.’

‘However, with the additions of draft picks Greg Rousseau and Carlos “Boogie” Basham, as well as the signing of Efe Obada to go along with veterans Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison, it was an uphill battle for Johnson to make the club.’

‘Whyte and Harris had both been on the team for exactly a week, signed as extra bodies and insurance due to several injuries at the running back and cornerback positions.’

‘It was Josh Allen and the Bills offense getting the football first in this game, as the Buffalo quarterback took to the field for the first time this preseason. It was almost as perfect of an opening drive for the Bills as you can picture it.’

‘“I thought there was some positives… and they were some things that came up in the game that we can learn from,” McDermott said. “[For example,] we’re down a long snapper, so A.J. [Epenesa] goes out there and for the most part did a pretty good job, but how do we handle that? We burned some timeouts because of the clock running down on the operation. … It’s hard to simulate all those [situations] on the practice field. I thought we could continue to learn from those situations.”‘

‘They came up with big stops when needed, especially in short yardage, but overall the Bills run defense gave up too much. The Packers ran for 118 yards, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.’

‘Just last year, Allen was ranked as the 87th player on the NFL’s Top-100 Players list. His massive uptick in play saw him jump 77 spots on the list in the 2021 rankings.’
