‘I mentioned it during Countdown to Kickoff this morning on our Network Pregame show that it was very important for Josh Allen to get off to a hot start on Sunday. After throwing an incompletion on his first attempt of the day to Devin Singletary, Allen completed his next six passes down the field leading the Bills to an opening drive touchdown.’

Opinion: Capaccio: Arrow Up/Arrow Down: WFT at Bills
‘The Bills defense did a great job overall and they did get pressure on Taylor Heinicke, but they never got him down, and several times the WFT QB escaped to run for a good gain or complete a pass.’
Opinion: Washington at Bills: Sal’s keys, notes, and stats
‘After seeing how the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to disrupt the Bills passing game with very little blitzing in Week 1, Washington would love to do the same. But if they can’t and thus go blitz-heavy, they’ll give Bills quarterback Josh Allen and his receivers a big opportunity to take advantage.’
McDermott: Taron Johnson fills a unique role
‘McDermott credited coach Jim Salgado – who primarily works with the team’s nickel cornerbacks – for Johnson’s growth, and said the team was blessed to have a coach like Salgado on staff.’
Star Lotulelei returns to practice; Levi Wallace limited
‘However, cornerback Levi Wallace, who was a full participant on Wednesday, was downgraded to limited on Thursday as he deals with a knee injury.’
Eagles snag Jack Anderson from Bills’ practice squad
‘Anderson was selected by the Bills with the 236th overall pick in the seventh round in this past April’s 2021 NFL Draft out of Texas Tech University. After seeing some game action in the preseason, he was then signed to the Bills’ practice squad. He joined a practice squad along with fellow draftee cornerback Rachad Wildgoose amongst others after the final round of cuts were made around the NFL this past offeseason.’
Opinion: Bills get bounce-back win they needed
‘I wasn’t panicking after the season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1, but I would have been in a very dark place had the Bills lost in South Florida too.’
Opinion: Stifling defense
‘If you were simply looking for a bounce back win and a second-straight strong performance from the defense, this was your game. Both teams were careless with the ball, and Miami was using a backup quarterback for most of the game.’
762 season ticket refunds granted by Bills
‘After the new vaccination policies were announced by Erie County Executive Mark Polancarz last week, in conjunction with Pegula Sports and Entertainment and the Bills, any season ticket holder who wished to receive a refund had to make the request by Friday at 8 p.m. ET.’
Bills blank Dolphins 35-0
‘On the defensive side of the football, the Bills gave Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa fits early on in this affair. Miami was unable to generate any momentum on offense, and while trying to get a pass off Tagovailoa took a massive hit from Buffalo’s AJ Epenesa that forced the second-year signal-caller to be carted off the field.’
Opinion: Capaccio: Arrow Up/Arrow Down: Bills at Dolphins
‘For an overall performance, Allen does not deserve an Arrow Down. He made some dynamic plays and throws and led the offense to 35 points. It was not a bad game for him. However, he still seemed a bit off as far as accuracy and timing with some of his receivers which resulted in him completing only 17 of 33 passes for a completion percentage of a too low 51.5%.’
Opinion: Bills at Dolphins: Sal’s keys, notes, and stats
‘The Bills fumbled the football four times last week in their season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have to be better at securing it this week.’
McDermott: ‘We cannot afford to do what we did last week’ against Pittsburgh
‘”One of their great strengths is taking the football away,” McDermott said. “We cannot afford to do what we did last week. We put the ball on the ground four times. So we’ve got to continue to work on it. I’m speaking to the discipline of our team, the discipline in this case of our ball handlers… Discipline leads to good things, if handled the right way.”‘
Gabriel Davis returns to Thursday’s practice
‘Davis was officially listed as “limited” along with defensive tackle Star Lotulelei (calf) and safety Micah Hyde (neck).’
Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs are cover boys for Sports Illustrated Kids’ ‘BFF’ issue
‘The superstar tandem are on the cover of SI Kids’ “BFF issue,” posing earnestly with each other. They’re also featured in a full-page photo shoot.’
