‘It seems rather hard to believe that Minnesota at 7-1 has a better record than the 6-2 Bills, but that’s the case thanks to Buffalo’s shake-your-head 20-17 loss to the New York Jets Sunday.’

‘It sure seemed like we were past games like this for Josh Allen, but Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium, the Buffalo Bills quarterback had a performance that took us back five years to his rookie season.’

‘Perhaps we’ll look back at this and call it the necessary slap in the face they needed on their way to the Super Bowl. But if they aren’t careful and their play Sunday continues, not only are they not going to make it to the Super Bowl, they’re going to have a tough time winning the now extremely competitive AFC East and securing a home playoff game.’

‘Running back is an interesting area to be exploring for Beane. Devin Singletary has been a good soldier since he arrived as a third-round pick in 2019, and he has given the Bills pretty consistent performance. However, two things have never changed with Singletary: He lacks that ability to grind out tough yards in short yardage situations behind an offensive line that doesn’t often succeed in that area, and he also falls short when it comes to explosive plays. His longest career run is 51 yards back in 2020.’

‘As for the Jets, they have to be kicking themselves after losing to the Patriots thanks to a litany of huge mistakes including a game-changing roughing the passer penalty on John Franklin-Myers at the end of the first half. It wiped out an 84-yard pick-six by cornerback Michael Carter, and instead of being up 17-3, the Jets allowed a field goal which cut their lead to 10-6.’

‘So the Packers did the only thing they could: They pounded running backs Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon at the Bills all night, but in the process, they ran an awful lot of clock and once they were down 24-7 at halftime, there was no coming back.’

‘The Packers offensive line opened gaping holes, the Bills missed far too many tackles, and what was most concerning is the Bills knew Green Bay was going to try to run and chew clock. Still, they had no answers.’
