‘This is the same mob that continually dredges up the tired argument about how Allen’s college career at Wyoming was less than stellar statistically and — because of that —have already concluded that he’ll never amount to anything. It’s also the same people who somehow, after just 6½ games, expect Allen to be performing like Jared Goff or Patrick Mahomes even though he has a fraction of the talent around him that those two are blessed to have.’

Josh Allen’s legs help Bills defeat Jaguars 24-21
‘Although the field was repeatedly littered by yellow laundry, the Bills and Jaguars traded punches – at one point, quite literally – for well over three hours and Buffalo, in Josh Allen’s return to action, ultimately pulled out a 24-21 victory over Jacksonville.’
Josh Allen goes from ‘trash’ to treasure as Jalen Ramsey praises his running ability
‘“The good thing about the world we live in is everyone can have an opinion,” said Ramsey. “I stick by my opinions, usually. It doesn’t matter what I said, I’m sure that’s what he was thinking on his side. You can have opinions, but it’s about what you go out there and do and what he did was go out there for his team and get a win. I know he ran the ball really well and hurt us with his feet. Passing, it didn’t feel like a lot of opportunities.”’
Buffalo Bills brawl might have helped Sean McDermott’s young team come together
‘Not to defend the officiating, which made the game unwatchable at times. But when 23 penalty flags are thrown, enough for referee Walt Coleman and his crew to develop tennis elbow, it’s safe to assume the players weren’t interested in any Sportsmanship of the Year awards.’
Report card
‘Let’s face it, Blake Bortles is brutal. He poses almost no threat as a passer, so I’ll temper my excitement about the Bills’ performance. He had 79 yards prior to the Jaguars’ late TD drive after Buffalo had taken a 24-14 lead and finished with 123 yards. True, some of his struggles were due to the Bills playing well, but honestly, the Jaguars were running so well, they really didn’t need to pass. Jordan Poyer and Matt Milano both had interceptions on passes that were tipped, so those were not entirely Bortles’ fault. Buffalo’s pass rush was strong late in the game, led by Kyle Williams who had 1.5 sacks.’
Josh Allen is back for the Bills, and he has a big test against the Jaguars defense
‘Bills 13, Jaguars 9.’
Bills vs. Jaguars: How to watch, listen, plus things to know before kickoff
‘Buffalo ranks dead last in the NFL in scoring, Jacksonville is 29th. The Bills are 31st in yards per game, the Jaguars are 21st. The Bills are minus-7 in turnover ratio to rank 26th, the Jaguars are at minus-9 to rank 28th.’
Wyatt Teller thought it would be cool to block Jags’ Malik Jackson and now he has chance
‘“When I was in Atlanta training for the combine, I was with Jon Stinchcomb,” Teller recalled of his sessions with the former NFL offensive lineman who helps draft prospects prepare for the scouting combine and their pro days. “He pulled up some game film and we literally studied (Jackson) because he’s one of the best. So to me it’s like, wow, I was watching this guy thinking it would be really cool to block him one day, and here I am.”’
Thanks to Bills DE Shaq Lawson, his dad’s ‘name will forever be known’ at youth field
‘“Tom (Cloer III), the director at Central, he called and said they’d been trying to get a scoreboard for the last five years, but they didn’t have enough money,” Lawson said recently. “I’ve been there a long time, grew up in the area, and the scoreboard we had when I was there was bad. I told them how much they had done for me at Central, and I told them I’d love to donate the whole scoreboard myself. I wanted it to be my gift, to give back to Tom, to the town of Central, and to the kids.”’
So much for playoff rematch; Bills and Jaguars are just trying to salvage pride
‘But the Jaguars blew a 16-0 lead, their struggling offense under former Bills offensive coordinator Nate Hackett completely shutting down and giving Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger one too many turns with the ball.’
Medical clearance a formality; Josh Allen starting Sunday vs. Jaguars
‘“I’m making throws where I don’t have to second-guess,” Allen said. “Putting the ball where it needs to be, and when I’m making the throw, there’s no grabbing or pulling in there, it feels comfortable and fluid. Maybe two weeks ago I might have had a couple throws I didn’t want to make, but now I think it’s full game and every throw is on the table.”’
Buffalo Bills release receiver Terelle Pryor
‘The Bills also signed cornerback Denzel Rice to their practice squad.’
Leo Roth: ‘I will miss Nathan Peterman the person’
‘Unfortunately for Peterman, he could never perform to a level that could justify his coach’s unwavering support. And in the NFL — Not For Long league — the head eventually must overrule the heart.’
Nathan Peterman cut by Buffalo Bills
‘Peterman’s time with the team appeared up after the arrival of Matt Barkley and the former University of Southern California quarterback’s performance during a lopsided win over the New York Jets.’
Leo Roth: Can the Buffalo Bills run the table?
‘The Bills are yielding an average of 302.2 yards per game, with Baltimore (305.0) and Jacksonville (319.1) next.’
