Gore, heading into his 15th NFL season at age 36, finished with 156 carries for 722 yards and no touchdowns last season, but his 4.6 yards per carry average was his highest since 2012, the fourth of five Pro Bowl appearances.’

‘Gore, the Bills’ 36-year-old running back, will be kept up of Buffalo’s second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. McCoy will be given the night off. Like most teams, the Bills are trying to give their veteran players as much rest as possible during the preseason while also limiting the risk of injuries.’

‘It won’t always be the prettiest, and they could lean on a few tiebreakers like in 2017, but the Bills are going back to the playoffs this season.’

That’s, at least, where I’d play him essentially all the time, despite varying suggestions as to all the types of roles he could assume — and thrive in — at the next level. The same was true for Randle. Kind of. With him though, as an undrafted free agent from Texas A&M-Kingsville, coaches initially didn’t know where to play him. The two are almost identically sized, and once Randle was given free rein to attack inside at defensive tackle, he dominated for nearly a decade. Like Randle did, Oliver plays with otherworldly explosiveness and aggression. His quickness and loose hips translate to ridiculously low-center-of-gravity power.’

‘They were not at the school at the same time, but it is worth noting that Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll spent the 2017 season working at Alabama, which is where Yeldon went to college. He presumably knows how to use running backs who come out of that system, so it will be interesting to see how the Bills decide to work Yeldon into the mix in 2019 and beyond.’
