‘“It has been hammered home to me that football is a team sport,” he says. “The word ‘blame’ jumps out, and it shouldn’t be in the mix. My teammates supported me from the start. They knew it was the team that lost, not one individual player. You acknowledge that you could have done your part better, but as far as assessing blame, you simply cannot do it. People do it because it’s easy. They don’t understand it’s really much more complex than that.”’
