Deonte Harty’s own mental health journey inspires him to help others

‘In 2021, Harty went through a bout of depression. His girlfriend had a miscarriage while he was at training camp. His childhood friend died. A hurricane meant he had to evacuate to Dallas. Any one of the those would have been a major challenge; Harty was grappling with it all at once, miles away from his support system. He felt unmoored. He felt depressed. He felt so much at once. But he didn’t feel like he could reach out. Instead, he felt like he should fly back to Maryland without telling anyone.’

‘“We’ve had a few backed-up drives that are 15-plus plays that take a lot of time off the clock,” Allen said. “And that speaks volumes to the guys on the team, speaks volumes to what Coach (Ken) Dorsey’s calling and how we got there and execute it. But again, at the end of the day, we’re just trying to win a football game. If it’s by putting up 40 or putting up four, we’re just trying to go out there and play complementary football and do what we need to do to win the game.”’

‘“You always want to win your in-division games,” said Josh Allen. “It’s a team that we play twice a year. I know it means a lot for our fans and their fans, whatever it means for standings, this and that. At the end of the day, it’s Week 4. They all mean the same for us. This is the biggest one that we have on our schedule because it’s the next one and it’s a team that’s playing extremely well. They’re all important. We’re not going to put any more emphasis on one more than the other.”’

‘Safeties Micah Hyde (hamstring) and Jordan Poyer (knee soreness) were both non-participants, as were defensive back Siran Neal, offensive lineman Ryan Bates and edge rusher Leonard Floyd, who are all dealing with ankle injuries. Bates was the lone player to exit Sunday’s win over the Commanders due to his ankle injury, while Floyd and Hyde each dealt with their respective ailments throughout the week but were cleared to play by the Bills’ medical staff leading up to the Week 3 contest.’

McDermott knows Dolphins are explosive, a handful to prepare for

‘”They are all as advertised,” said McDermott ahead of Wednesday’s practice. “They’re explosive, anybody that touches the ball can score. Whether it’s what you think is gonna be a two-yard run, turns into a crease and a gasher. Same thing with the passing game. Coach [Mike] McDaniel does a good job of moving guys around, creating different styles of offense. It’s a handful.”‘

‘Safeties Micah Hyde (hamstring) and Jordan Poyer (knee soreness), along with cornerback Siran Neal (ankle) all set out Wednesday’s session. Meanwhile, cornerback Taron Johnson was limited with a hip injury.’

Terrel Bernard named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

‘Bernard was all over the field for the Bills in their 37-3 win over the Commanders. The 24-year-old racked up a team-high seven total tackles, two tackles for a loss, two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery in the victory.’
