‘That the Bills would seemingly waste such an important pick on a player — even if they had a first-round grade on him — when having just extended a blossoming tight end in Dawson Knox, whose best is yet to come, is inexplicable and reckless.’

Bills trade up in first round, select Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid at No. 25 overall in NFL draft
‘”It’s awesome. Trading up to get me goes to show that they wanted me that much more,” Kincaid said late Thursday night on a video conference call. “So definitely just going to go in and be the best rookie I can and just do whatever I can to help the team.”‘
Mark Gaughan: Dalton Kincaid is the slot receiver the Bills need but most weren’t expecting
‘The term tight end is a little misleading with the 6-foot-4, 246-pound Kincaid. For the entire Sean McDermott era, the Bills have exclusively sought tight ends who can both catch and block; tight ends who can play attached to the line of scrimmage, next to the offensive tackle. It’s the “Y-tight end” position.’
Dalton Kincaid: Five things to know about Bills’ new tight end
‘He transferred in college, as well. Kincaid spent two seasons at the University of San Diego before he transferred to Utah. Kincaid played 55 total games in college, 28 games at Utah. Kincaid felt the uptick in playing time was a big part of what led the Bills to taking him.’
Bills exec Ron Raccuia is confident there will be development near new stadium. He’s just not sure when
‘“I’m confident because of the intense amount of interest that has been expressed by developers throughout the country that are used to developing around large-scale facilities,” Raccuia, the Bills’ executive vice president and chief operating officer, said Thursday.’
Buffalo Bills trade up in 1st round, select Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid
‘“Well, I lied. We traded up,” Beane said with a smile, recalling his comment from a couple weeks ago when he said if you were to make a bet in Las Vegas, the odds would be heavy that he’d try to trade back as opposed to trade up. “You guys probably knew I was going to do it anyway.”’
Draft grades: Buffalo Bills get ‘elite talent’ but some experts think it was strange pick
‘But did the Bills need a tight end? That depends if you consider Kincaid a traditional tight end. Buffalo was expected to add a wide receiver to complement Stefon Diggs and push Gabe Davis. Kincaid is a dangerous receiving threat that blurs the lines between wide receiver and tight end. Exhibit A: Kincaid made 16 catches for 234 yards and a touchdown in a win over then No. 7 USC last fall.’
Buffalo Bills trade up 2 spots to no. 25 in deal with Jaguars, select Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid
‘NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah ranked Kincaid as his no. 9 overall prospect in the draft and called him a more explosive version of Zach Ertz, who’s been to three Pro Bowls in his career.’
Who is Dalton Kincaid? Buffalo Bills ‘got a guy in the Travis Kelce mold’ (5 things to know)
‘Kincaid went from a no-star recruit to a first round pick in a matter of a few years.’
5 thoughts and a grade on Buffalo Bills drafting Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid
‘The trade cost the Bills one of the only six picks they had going into the draft. Had Beane landed Kincaid at no. 27 the pick would have yielded an A. The player is a fit for what their offense is missing and the GM and head coach moved away from their stubborn pattern of going defense only in the draft’s first round (Allen was the last offensive player selected in the first round back in 2018). Kincaid’s arrival takes some of the focus off of Knox, which isn’t an ideal place to be for a player who just signed for big money ($12 million plus a season). But if Kincaid and Knox form a dynamic duo and Kincaid can open up parts of the fields where the Bills haven’t been able to operate, this is a massive win of a draft pick.’
Bills GM explains why he traded up for TE Dalton Kincaid; hints WR wasn’t a priority
‘“If Dalton was not there, we would have traded back,” Beane said late Thursday night after pulling off a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars to move up to pick no. 25. “We had a good feeling that Dallas would take him (at no. 26) and we just really liked him and just felt he would be a great fit in our offense.”’
Bills’ Dawson Knox posts reaction to team drafting tight end in first round of NFL Draft
‘The 26-year-old took to Twitter and reacted to the pick, posting a GIF saying: “This is where the fun begins.”’
Skip Bayless devastated over Buffalo Bills leapfrogging Dallas Cowboys for Dalton Kincaid
‘Sure enough, Beane selected Kincaid before Dallas could draft him. This led to a Twitter meltdown from Bayless. The UNDISPUTED host called the move “devastating.”’
NFL Draft: Bills trade up to select TE Kincaid at No. 25 of first round
‘Kincaid spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at the University of San Diego before transferring to Utah, where he played in 55 career games, making 24 starts. In his final collegiate season, Kincaid played in 12 games with nine starts, leading the Utes in receptions (70), receiving yards (890) and touchdowns (8). His 890 receiving yards led all FBS tight ends during the 2022 season.’
Bills GM Beane discusses decision to trade up and select TE Kincaid at No. 25
‘“Not really. It was more how we saw Dalton and that he, you know, we knew it was going down to maybe there is a receiver there left, maybe he is there left,” said the Bills GM. “We weren’t sure. You ask me five picks before we picked, I still would have told you we were going to trade down. I thought he was going to get taken. I called the Giants and they talked about and then they let me know they were going to trade up, so as soon as I heard that, I called Jacksonville. Right away, they weren’t sure, they waited until they got on the clock, talked it through and got it done.”’
