For Bills: Wide receiver, MLB or trade down?

‘The fit for Hopkins is another interesting part of the deal. Gabe Davis is entering the final year of his deal and seems to be in line for a big pay day. A trade for Hopkins could put that extension in jeopardy. Hopkins turns 31 in June and likely is in the final years of his prime. This deal would be an all-in kind of move that Beane doesn’t traditionally seek. But Hopkins wins in all kinds of ways and adds another expert route runner opposite All-Pro superstar Stefon Diggs. The Bills will have to figure out the target share and how to feed everybody in the passing game, but when you can land a player like Hopkins it feels like a no-brainer.’

‘The Bills hold the no. 27 pick on Thursday night and most experts are hovering around 20 players with a first-round grade in this draft. According to Tankathon.com, the Bills rank 26th (7th worst) in the NFL in draft capital rankings. Each pick in the draft is assigned a value and then all the teams are graded on the sum of their pick values.’

‘If the Bills are to add a WR in rounds one or two, the opportunities won’t be endless, as this will not be a wide-receiver-heavy draft. But there are a few notable names that could be available when they select at No. 27, or perhaps if they are to trade back into the early portion of the second round. Buffalo has welcomed a few of those players in for pre-draft visits, including USC WR Jordan Addison, Boston College WR Zay Flowers and Ohio State WR Jackson Smith-Njigba. All three have also been selected for the Bills within the first round of various mock drafts conducted nationally and locally.’
