Bills players to honor Damar Hamlin by wearing ‘3’ pendants before AFC divisional round game vs. Bengals
‘The pendants are 14K gold and measure 2.5 inches, and there is a heart at the bottom right side of the No. 3. The back of the pendant features a quote from Hamlin: “If you get a chance to show some love today do it! It won’t cost you nothing.”‘
AFC Divisional Round preview: Bengals, Bills look to book ticket against Chiefs
‘The events of these teams’ last meeting, a Week 17 matchup in Cincinnati, will forever be etched in the minds and hearts of all who were there on the field and watching even from afar as Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest. With the game postponed, and later cancelled altogether, this contest between two of the top AFC teams will be an incredibly emotional affair. Hamlin is now back at home after nearly a week in hospital in Cincinnati, and able to join his Bills teammates at their Buffalo facility over the course of this past week but still has a long way to go in his recovery. It’s unclear if he’ll be able to be present at the game to see his team compete in person, but his presence will certainly be felt by both sides regardless.’
Does Josh Allen have a turnover problem? Breaking down Bills QB’s recent issues from interceptions to fumbles
‘With a player like Allen, turnovers do come with the territory sometimes.’
Is Damar Hamlin at the Bills game? What to know about Buffalo safety’s plans for playoffs vs. Bengals
‘Regardless of whether Hamlin can attend, one person in particular would like to see him: Higgins, who was tackled by Hamlin right before the safety went into cardiac arrest. He reportedly has not spoken to Hamlin since then.’
When did Cole Beasley come back to the Bills? Timeline of WR’s retirement, NFL return during 2022 season
‘Even if faces in places are familiar, things can still feel strange. So it is for Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley, who is back in Buffalo after announcing his retirement from the NFL in October.’
Damar Hamlin recovery update: Latest news on Bills safety after Week 17 collapse vs. Bengals
‘Hamlin has made a swift recovery, largely due to the initial actions by the Bills’ medical staff on the night he collapsed.’
Dawson Knox heart gesture: How Bills TE honored Damar Hamlin with TD celebration
‘When Knox found the end zone against the Patriots in Week 18, he turned to the camera closest to him, put three fingers up and cupped his hands into a heart shape — a symbol clearly inspired by his teammate.’
Why Bengals vs. Bills is being played in Buffalo: Explaining the NFL’s home-field advantage ruling for 2023 playoffs
‘That ruling makes sense. Still, it has drawn the ire of Bengals fans who know that the team would have had home-field advantage over the Bills had they won their unplayed Week 17 contest against Buffalo.’
Josh Allen nicknames: Why Tony Romo calls Bills QB ‘The Alien’ and ‘Mr. January’
‘Perhaps it was overkill from the former Cowboys signal-caller. Rest assured, though, that if the Bills accomplish anything this season, their part-snowman, part-alien QB will likely be the biggest reason why.’
Who is the Bills’ backup quarterback? Buffalo’s 2023 QB depth chart behind Josh Allen
‘The 34-year-old has bounced around quite a bit in his NFL career, suiting up for the Texans, Rams, Vikings, Broncos, Commanders (then known as the Redskins) and Browns before landing in Buffalo this offseason. He’s been a backup for much of his 10-year career, but has also started plenty of games as well.’
Opinion: Capaccio: Bengals at Bills: Sal’s keys, notes, and stats
‘The Bengals offensive line is very banged up. They will be starting three players who are normally backups at left tackle, right tackle, and right guard. The Bills have spent plenty of resources to improve their defensive line over the last several years, including high draft picks Gregory Rousseau, Ed Oliver, AJ Epenesa, and Boogie Basham, plus free agent money on Jordan Phillips, Shaq Lawson, Tim Settle, and DaQuan Jones. Now is the time for those players to show why the organization made a heavy investment in them. They need to dominate a depleted Bengals offensive line and control the game.’
Bills Mafia putting some pep in their step
‘Many fans pouring into Niagara Square Saturday for a pep rally to help cheer the red, white and blue to a victory.’
Bills-Bengals AFC divisional playoff game preview
‘The Bengals’ offensive line injuries almost offset the loss of the Bills having Von Miller in this divisional game. The Bills’ front seven on defense will need to get immense pressure to slow down Burrow and the top receiving trio in the NFL featuring Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd.’
Thad’s Three Things: (Divisional) Bills vs. Bengals
‘Elam was smart and tough and fast. All of his physical abilities and potential were on display as he hung in play after play against Miami’s elite top two receivers. This was the guy the Bills were hoping to get when they spent that 1st round pick on Elam back in the spring. To be fair, it’s only one good game. I believe Elam was responsible for allowing both DeVante Parker touchdowns the week before against the Patriots. This is not yet a player Sean McDermott can fully trust. I would still start Elam this week and see if the improved play continues. But Jackson should be standing right next to Leslie Frazier with his helmet on for every snap.’
