‘It’s a week-to-week league, and this was a near must-win in the Bills’ quest to win the AFC East for a third consecutive year. Josh Allen had a rough first half, but the Bills should be able to win games without the quarterback playing like Superman. They did. The Bills caught a slight break with the Jets’ loss to New England. Miami and the Bills are 7-3. The Jets and Patriots are 6-4.’

How It Happened: Top plays, standout players from the Bills’ 31-23 win over Cleveland
‘Matt Milano. In his second game back from injury, Milano was all over the field, finishing with 12 tackles (team-high), one fumble recovery and his first sack of the season.’
Plays that shaped the game: Preparation, execution keyed Bills’ running game
‘Dawson Knox was running a shallow crossing route underneath the coverage to the left and drew the safety to that side, Johnson. Diggs ran a deeper cross along the back line of the end zone and was wide open.’
Report Card: Running game on both sides of the ball keys Bills’ much-needed win over Browns
‘Yikes. The Bills made Brissett look like Joe Montana, and Amari Cooper – who is a nice receiver – look like Jerry Rice. The absences of Tre’Davious White and first-round draft pick Kaiir Elam were felt against Cleveland. Brissett finished 28 of 41 for 324 yards and three touchdowns. Even if some of that production came late with the Bills ahead, that’s still a bad showing by the secondary. Cooper finished with eight catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. The Bills’ batting average on 50/50 balls had to be close to .000. Cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Christian Benford seemed slow in getting their respective heads around in time to defend the ball. The Bills got just one sack – from Matt Milano – but did hit Brissett five times. Jordan Poyer, Jackson, Benford, Damar Hamlin and Jordan Phillips each finished with one pass defensed.’
Bills rally after sluggish start to down Browns, 31-23, and overcome bizarre week
‘But this victory went beyond the standings; this was a victory for the entire organization and most certainly for the Buffalo-area community that did its part to help its beloved football team. Many fan bases pound their chests, but there is no bond stronger than the one between the Bills and their mafia and this was merely the latest example.’
Bills show resiliency, emerging rushing attack as they weather the storm against Browns
‘CB Dane Jackson appeared to have a tough day and this only shines the spotlight even harder on Tre’Davious White who was once again inactive. The Bills need him back, especially with Kaiir Elam sitting out a second straight game. Jordan Poyer’s return helped and he had a nice pass breakup and a tackle for loss with a great read on a swing pass, but the Bills clearly missed Tremaine Edmunds in pass coverage.’
How the Bills erased Nick Chubb: Shaq Lawson revival helping Ed Oliver dominate, Matt Milano DPOY?
‘“I don’t know what it is about Shaq when he get in Buffalo – and he playing for the Bills – Shaq is a bad motherf—–,” Oliver said. “Everything about Shaq is just energy and good positive vibes and juice and he brings that I-don’t-give-a-damn. … He’s just so comfortable here like you can really tell the difference.”’
Bills’ Devin Singletary, James Cook run wild on Browns, defense shuts down Nick Chubb in 31-23 win (Report card)
‘James Cook had a career day and Devin Singletary was solid as usual for Buffalo.’
Buffalo Bills follow through on Lions’ requests after 31-23 win over Browns
‘All tables were left intact, Buffalo made sure to turn off the lights and they locked up before leaving. To prove it, Buffalo shared a video on social media with the Lions’ tweet from earlier in the week.’
From as far as Japan and Spain, ‘Bills Mafia’ shows up big in Detroit after massive snow in Buffalo
‘The Bills fanbase, nicknamed “Bills Mafia,” packed the area around Ford Field around 7:30 a.m. and showed why it is considered the most loyal and passionate fanbase in America.’
The Squirrel Winters Game: Bills Mafia goes nuts for Josh Allen’s neighbor
‘During the CBS broadcast of the game, Andrew Catalon and James Lofton were discussing how Josh Allen credited two of his neighbors, both farmers, for plowing his driveway out so that he could get onto Saturday’s flight. Catalon then mentioned the neighbors by name as Mark Braun and Squirrel Winters.’
Bills absorb slow start, earn rebound victory over Browns in Detroit; Buffalo breathes sigh of relief
‘An 11-play, 78-yard touchdown drive to end the first half helped turn the tide for Buffalo, as the Bills jogged into the locker room with a 13-10 lead after what was, for the most part, a miserable first-half effort. On the go-ahead scoring drive, Josh Allen connected with Gabe Davis on a 28-yard reception on a second-and-3 that helped advance the possession deep into Cleveland territory. Five plays later, Devin Singletary converted a critical third-and-1 with a two-yard rush up the middle, which led to five-yard strike from Allen to Stefon Diggs, who hauled in his first target of the game for the go-ahead score.’
Five Takeaways: Bills push through adversity as rushing attack, rush defense power rebound win over Browns
‘After allowing the Browns to march down the field and score an opening drive touchdown, the Buffalo defense settled in and made things difficult on Brissett and company as the game wore on. The Bills’ ‘D’ was particularly stout in defending against the Browns’ potent rushing attack, limiting Nick Chubb to just 19 yards on 14 carries.’
Sabato: Perspective is pertinent in dealing with Bills’ midseason slog
‘The Bills have lost three times by a grand total of eight points, in games where they did more to lose than their opponents did to win. Still, no team has proven to have the ability to beat the Buffalo when it plays to maximum potential.’
