‘With Tre’Davious White still on the physically unable to perform list, there’s been a battle going on for not only one starting cornerback spot, but both of them. And over the last week or so at training camp, three different players have seen a healthy rotation with the first unit. First round pick Kaiir Elam, third-year player Dane Jackson, and sixth round pick Christian Benford, who is squarely in the mix for the job. None have taken firm grasp of the role yet, and with the Colts expected to play their starting offense for several series, this would be a great test for this group to see who can emerge ahead after Saturday.’

Countdown to kickoff: Bills coaching staff gearing up for preseason opener
‘“We got a little taste of it the other night in the red and blue scrimmage which is one of the reasons why we do it. And try to get a feel for who can take what they learned in practice and transfer it to a game-like atmosphere,” said McDermott. “And that’ll be the lens we view the preseason game through.”’
Storylines to follow during Bills first preseason game vs. Colts
‘First-round pick Kaiir Elam is going to be relied on heavily right from the get-go as Tre’Davious White continues to recover from a torn ACL. While his timetable to return is still up in the air, it seems like it’ll be Dane Jackson and Elam starting at cornerback. And what better way to see what you’re made of than by going up against one of the best wide receivers in the league, and he just so happens to be on your team. The 1-on-1 battles with Stefon Diggs have only helped Elam, even if he’s gotten frustrated at times. Diggs along with Gabe Davis beat Elam many times during those 1-on-1 drills and team work throughout practice. Elam also has to work on not holding so this live action against someone other than the Bills passing attack will be critical.’
Former Bills quarterback makes 4th trip to Orchard Park as Colts head coach

Buffalo Bills vs Indianapolis Colts – Preseason Week 1 Preview
‘Cook should also get a fair amount of carries. The rookie is expected to compete for the starting running back job – easily the most open starting job of any of the skilled position groups. Given the Colts great defensive numbers from a year ago, if Cook impresses, it sure would give the Buffalo Bills some food for thought.’
Most memorable quotes and one-liners said by Bills players during Training Camp
‘”It almost seems like it’s just something we’ve been building since 2017. Obviously fell short in the AFC championship game two years ago, fell short last year. How are we gonna get over that hump? And we understand we got to put the work in. It’s not just on paper.”‘
5 players to watch in the preseason opener vs. Colts
‘Buffalo’s sixth-round pick has made a move up the depth chart over the course of training camp thanks to his ability to make plays on an almost daily basis. Can the Villanova product continue that practice momentum in his first preseason game?’

Observations: Bills QB Josh Allen won’t play in preseason opener against Indianapolis Colts
”“No, no preference,” he said when asked if he wanted to play in the preseason. “It’s football, I love going out there and playing. So, I don’t know if it’s game two, game three, no games, I’m getting ready for the season opener. Whatever coach says is what I’m willing to do and we’ll go from there. Just going against somebody else that’s not your own defense, I think it’s valuable, but again, I don’t think it makes or breaks anybody.”’
Best of Bills training camp 2022: MVPs, most improved, and more
‘Oliver made play after play throughout camp, and his teammates made sure to point that out. Center Mitch Morse declared that “Ed’s playing his best football right now.” Jordan Phillips said that the way coach Eric Washington has helped Oliver improve is the best thing to happen to the Bills defensive line. That’s pretty high praise for a defensive line that has seen a few notable improvements.’
What we learned from Bills training camp: Players rising, falling and 6 observations
‘With Brown missing so much time, not only at Fisher but the entire offseason program, veteran free agent David Quessenberry has taken the majority of reps in his place, and it would not surprise me if Quessenberry wins the starting job, at least to start the season.’
Bills CB Tre’Davious White to return to practice ‘sooner than later’ (report)
‘Throughout training camp, the Bills have said that White is “on schedule” with his rehab, but no official timetable has been given. While we still don’t know exactly when White will return to the field, ESPN Insider Jeremy Fowler provided an encouraging update on the star cornerback.’
Bills’ Ed Oliver scraps with Dion Dawkins on final day of training camp (Day 14 observations)
‘The biggest skirmish of camp happened near the end of practice on Thursday when defensive tackle Ed Oliver showed off his wrestling skills with a picture perfect double leg takedown of Dion Dawkins at the tail end of play during team drills. Jordan Phillips, who was talking a lot throughout practice, was in the mix, too. After the practice ended, Phillips walked over to a bunch of offensive linemen and slapped them up. Camp had ended and now the Bills get to turn their attention to an actual other NFL team when they play the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday.’
Bills Camp: Final day at Fisher features another scuffle, another tough day for the offense
‘“The help and support we get up here is unmatched around the league, so we certainly appreciate the staff here. The (St. John Fisher football) coaching staff as well for allowing us the time and space while they’re trying to get their work done and have a successful season as well.”’
Bills end training camp at St. John Fisher University
‘Since his return, and particularly on Thursday, Crowder seems to have clearly re-gained not only his spot, but the confidence of quarterback Josh Allen.’
