‘The quarterback who carried the Bills to a second-half comeback was Matt Barkley, who went 18 of 24 for 224 yards. The other second-half hero was running back Raheem Blackshear, rushing for two touchdowns.’

Seven impressive players from the Buffalo Bills preseason opener
‘Spector was the last player selected by the Bills in the 2022 NFL Draft but on Saturday he might quite the impression. The rookie linebacker led the Bills with eight tackles [three solo, five assists]. If Spector makes the 53-man roster, he’ll likely be primarily a contributor on special teams when active. But it’s an encouraging sign to see both of the Bills linebackers from the 2022 draft class start the preseason with impactful games.’
Bills erase 14-point deficit in 27-24 preseason comeback win vs. Colts
‘But two ways to look at Keenum’s performance. On one hand, it was sloppy, there’s no question about it as he was responsible for three of four turnovers in the first half. On the other hand, if Keenum ever does need to play during a real game, he won’t have an offense line consisting up backups and would be throwing to guys Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Dawson Knox, etc.’
4 observations: Bills rally to win preseason opener
‘It says a lot when one of the top 2-3 plays in the game came from a punter but here we are. The rookie, Matt Araiza hit a monster 82-yard punt late in the first half. The Bills were pinned deep in their own end, the Colts were getting the ball back with a chance to put more points on the board but Araiza drove a punt through the other end zone. The Colts took possession at the 20 yard line and the half came to an uneventful end. There was some concern with Araiza’s lack of holding experience but things went smooth on a Tyler Bass 48-yard field goal and an extra point. It was a good day for the punt god. The veteran Matt Haack had one punt for 38 yards that was downed at the 12 yard line.’
Bills bring in a victory and are fans eager to see the season on the horizon
‘“I always say I could come here without a food or a drink, and I could have anything I wanted” Jack Osler, Orchard Park resident who comes and tailgates with his son, “The people here are so nice.”’
Bills’ rookies stand out in their first taste of NFL action
‘Running back Raheem Blackshear scored twice while linebacker Terrel Bernard had a 69-yard fumble return TD. Blackshear’s emergence helped the Bills erase a 24-10 second half deficit as he finished the night with 60 receiving yards and 11 rushing yards. Bernard recorded the team’s first touchdown of the preseason after he scooped up a fumble forced by Boogie Basham.’
Top 3 things we learned from Bills vs. Colts | Preseason Week 1
‘It was Keenum’s first game as a Bill, which was the same for many others on offense. The group struggled to get things going early and committed four turnovers in the first half, but fortunately found a way to turn it around in the second half.’
Bills rookie James Cook adds a layer to running back room
‘“I think the biggest thing for him in that position, being young, is you got to embrace the protection piece of it – what you do when the ball is not in your hands,” McDermott said. “Whether it’s ID’ing protections or whether it’s actually physically blocking, but I know he’s up for the challenge.”’
A message for Brandon Beane: Von Miller’s right – the Bills should absolutely sign Odell Beckham Jr.
‘Still, the Bills will have to sell Beckham on the opportunity to win another Super Bowl, and hope he prioritizes that this season while he gets healthy over chasing the biggest contract possible. Then, potentially, he can cash in again next offseason.’
Here are six players with something to prove as Bills begin preseason against Colts
‘The Bills upgraded at edge rusher with the addition of Von Miller this year and the drafting of Greg Rousseau and Boogie Basham last year. They also re-signed Shaq Lawson, and all of that should be a wakeup call to Epenesa that he needs to start producing.’
7 Bills players to watch closely in Saturday’s preseason opener vs. Colts
‘Devin Singletary is the starter. Zack Moss had a strong training camp and will likely get more opportunities this season. The Bills took Cook in the second round in April’s draft – higher than either Singletary or Moss – and he looked good out of the backfield during training camp. If Cook gets a few series on Saturday, pay attention to where he lines up and how the Bills deploy him.’

Patriots’ Mac Jones keeps memento from blowout loss to Bills in his locker
‘When asked about the photo, Hines shared that it was in Jones’ locker. The photo was from the Patriots’ blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round of the playoffs and features Jones with his head down. Written upon the photo was “47-17,” the final score from the matchup.’
Five Takes: What to watch for during Bills-Colts; Roster battles heating up, rookies ready to prove themselves
‘Sean McDermott announced on Thursday that Josh Allen would sit out Saturday’s preseason opener while playing time for other players would be dealt with on an individual basis. With that said, Thursday’s practice, the final session at St. John Fisher University, was pretty intense for the team’s first-stringers while the backups went through a much less rigorous team period. That leads one to believe that many of the Bills’ incumbent starters will also be held out of Saturday’s contest, with those still pushing to solidify their role on the team receiving an opportunity to prove themselves in a game setting. The list of participants will likely include several members of the Bills’ secondary, which is still working itself out with former All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White in danger of missing the start of the season. White continues to work his way back from a season-ending ACL injury he suffered on Thanksgiving Day last year.’
Bills Place Trust In Dorsey To Drive High-Powered Offense
‘At 41, Dorsey is self-aware enough to appreciate the gravity of stepping into his new position. He spent the previous three seasons as Buffalo’s quarterbacks coach before being promoted to replace Brian Daboll, who was hired to take over the New York Giants in January.’
