‘“Jobs are up for grabs,” McKenzie said. “But I know I’ve got to go out there and play my best football and put my best foot forward to win the job. And that’s what I plan on doing. Jamison Crowder came in. He’s had a great career. And he came in to compete with me. And I came back to compete with him.”’

Camp observations: No. 3 safety battle heats up as Jordan Poyer goes down
‘Poyer, the 31-year-old All-Pro safety, suffered a left elbow injury late in practice. It’s a hyperextension, according to a league source, confirming a report from ESPN. The Bills still have 37 days before their season opener, and the expectation is Poyer will be ready to start the season.’
Jordan Poyer was clearly in pain when he left the Buffalo Bills practice field
‘A trainer was gingerly holding Poyer’s left arm as he walked him off the field where a cart was waiting to take him back to the locker room. Although the Bills would only say that Poyer is being further evaluated, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network tweeted that Poyer will undergo an MRI.’

‘The injury occurred after what appeared to be contact with rookie running back James Cook on a run play during 11-on-11s. Buffalo’s All Pro safety went to the ground after the play with discomfort and was attended to by trainers. Poyer walked off the field with a trainer and eventually carted off to the locker room.’
Bills’ Stefon Diggs battles rookie CB on Day 8 of camp; Taron Johnson frustrates Isaiah McKenzie (Observations)
‘Benford found himself locked up with All Pro receiver Stefon Diggs numerous times during practice. Once the Bills began red zone work, the back-and-forth between the two intensified. The first play Benford lined up on Diggs, quarterback Josh Allen rifled one over his head after he beat the coverage. Case Keenum took a few snaps and then Allen and Diggs returned to the field.’

‘Wide receiver Marquez Stevenson also left practice, suffering a foot injury after making a catch in the back of the end zone during 1-on-1 work when he tried to tap his two feet inside the end line to secure the touchdown grab. Immediately upon landing, Stevenson came up lame, began limping and later made his way through the tunnel and toward the Bills’ training room. Before the injury, the second-year WR performed well during the 1-on-1 session and had put together a few solid practices over the past few days.’

‘The person added Poyer should return before the start of the season, and spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Bills have not revealed the nature or severity of the injury.’
All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer suffers elbow injury, but Buffalo Bills expect he’ll play in opener
‘Poyer suffered the injury during the team’s 11-on-11 drills as he made a stop during a run by rookie running back James Cook near the end zone. The 31-year-old safety walked off the field but was later taken to the team’s locker room on a cart after dealing with the injury off to the side. He walked out of the locker room a bit after practice concluded with his left arm covered in a t-shirt and appearing to have a sling on his arm.’
Bills’ Jordan Poyer injures elbow during practice; All-Pro safety expected to be ready for Week 1
‘Poyer is a key member of the Bills’ defense. Last year, the then-30-year-old racked up 93 tackles, five interceptions, nine passes defensed and three sacks while helping Buffalo capture a second straight AFC East division title. Since arriving in Buffalo in 2017, Poyer has tallied 18 interceptions, 36 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, 10 sacks and 519 tackles. It’s no coincidence that the Bills — who did not make the playoffs from 1999-16 — made the postseason four of the first five years that Poyer has been with the franchise.’
Report: Poyer has hyperextended elbow, could be ready for Week 1
‘According to both NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport and ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Poyer suffered a hyperextended elbow during Tuesday’s training camp session. However, the good news is Poyer’s injury is not expected to keep him out of regular season action.’

‘Jaquan Johnson, Damar Hamlin, and Josh Thomas are the other listed safeties on the team, and all get work when either Poyer or Hyde are out. Cornerback Nick McCloud also gets some reps at the spot.’
Opinion: Hello from Bills training camp
‘McKenzie has been one of the best-looking players so far, and is taking advantage of all the reps with the ones. He is showing the ability to run a variety of routes, is catching everything thrown his way, and is making plays at all levels of the field.’
