‘”I mean, I wasn’t naive, right? I had no more guarantees,” Morse said. “Both parties came together and they found a place. You know, the old saying is if both parties are uncomfortable, that usually means it’s a good contract, right? I think after last year, I learned just to enjoy the moment. None of this is guaranteed. That’s just the truth of it all. In this league or in this business, and also nothing is personal.”‘

Bills sign Pro Bowl guard Rodger Saffold to one-year contract
‘Saffold, 33, was free to sign immediately because he was released by Tennessee last week, despite making the Pro Bowl following the 2021 season. Saffold started 15 games at left guard last season for Titans, and said during an introductory video conference with Western New York media members that he expects to start his Bills career in that position.’
DT Harrison Phillips heads to Minnesota; Bills to sign Tim Settle, DaQuan Jones, per reports
‘Likewise, Phillips had expressed his desire to stay in Buffalo if it worked out. In the end, Phillips’ market was strong.’
A closer look at the new contract details for Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie
‘It includes a $600,000 signing bonus, and base salaries of $1.35 million in 2022 (of which $650,000 is guaranteed) and $1.75 million in 2023. Additionally, McKenzie can earn a workout bonus of $100,000 in each year of the deal and per-game roster bonuses of up to $125,000 in each season. He also has a $250,000 roster bonus due on the fifth day of the 2023 league year. His cap hits are $1.875 million in 2022 and $2.525 million in 2023. If McKenzie didn’t make the team in 2022, his cap hit would be $1.25 million in “dead money.” If he was cut after the 2022 season, the Bills would be on the hook for just $300,000 in dead money on the 2023 salary cap.’
Buffalo Bills free agency tracker: Guard Rodger Saffold signed, Harrison Phillips bolts
‘“Me and Aaron Kromer, we worked together on the LA Rams for two years when we had one of the top offensive lines in the NFL,” he said. “We were able to get to a Super Bowl together, we were able to turn the entire team around and get us to start getting into playoff games.’
Buffalo Bills give C Mitch Morse two-year extension, lower 2022 salary cap hit (reports)
‘With Williams and Jon Feliciano, who was released last week, now off the roster, Beane has some holes to fill in free agency along his offensive line. Ryan Bates is a restricted free agent and Ike Boettger is an unrestricted free agent. The only viable starting option at guard on the roster right now is fourth-year lineman Cody Ford. He was benched last season after a slow start and played decent in a few spot opportunities. But expect Beane to add more depth and then heavily attack interior offensive line in April’s draft.’
Bills sign former All-Pro, Pro Bowl OL Rodger Saffold: 5 things to know
‘Despite playing at a high level at various times in his career, Saffold was recognized as a Pro Bowl player for the first time in 2021. Saffold started 15 games for the Titans last season and was part of a unit that helped Tennessee finish with the fifth-ranked rushing offense in the NFL. The Titans’ success on the ground last year is impressive considering Derrick Henry only played in eight regular season games.’
Who is DaQuan Jones? Buffalo Bills agree to terms with DT
‘From 2018-2021, Jones has not missed a single game. Minus four games missed in 2017, Jones has not missed a game since becoming a full-time starter in 2015.’
5 thoughts and a grade on Buffalo Bills signing DT DaQuan Jones
‘The Bills have needed size inside for a few years now and get that and more with Jones and what should be a reasonable price.’
5 thoughts and a grade on Buffalo Bills signing DT Tim Settle
‘Last season Settle only managed 210 snaps playing behind Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne and Matt Ioannidis. There just wasn’t enough of an opportunity with the Commanders, who reportedly wanted him back. The no. 4 defensive tackle on the Bills last season was Vernon Butler and he played 285 snaps. He was inactive for seven games. Justin Zimmer was on pace for north of 400. Depending on how the line shakes out, Settle could double his snaps for the Bills in 2022.’
Buffalo Bills release RG Daryl Williams to add cap space ahead of free agency
‘Buffalo took that out so it can add $6.3 million in cap space with the official start of free agency set to begin on Wednesday. The Bills gave Williams $24 million over three seasons after he played at a high level as the team’s starting right tackle in 2020. But with a cap hit just under $10 million this season, the Bills move on from Williams, who was flipped inside to guard after rookie Spencer Brown proved he could play and start at right tackle. Williams leaves a dead cap hit of $3.6 million on the cap this season.’
Emmanuel Ogbah says Buffalo Bills were in mix for his services
‘Ogbah reached agreement on a 4-year, $65 million contract with Miami on Monday with $32 million fully guaranteed at signing, but he had other options in free agency including the Buffalo Bills.’
