‘“It was very calm,” Douglas said about the atmosphere as his teammates rallied from a 28-3 second-half deficit on the sport’s grandest stage. “There was no panic, from what I remember. That team had a lot of confidence that year and everybody just stayed the course. I learned a lot just watching how those guys approached every day and how they approached the games. Never down and out, just really, ‘Hey, next play, next drive, one at a time.’”’

PlayAction: A slight dip in RPOs could help Bills’ O-line fire off ball
‘On an RPO, Allen reads a “conflict defender,” a safety or linebacker. If that player is leaning toward the run, Allen can pull the ball out of the running back’s hands and pass. If that player is backing up into coverage, Allen can hand the ball off. In theory, the Bills have a numbers advantage either way the defense plays it, especially when it’s zone coverage. Allen is counting the defenders in the box and making a play.’
Bills defensive tackle Justin Zimmer done for season; CB Cam Lewis moved to 53-man roster
‘“It’s hard to replace him (Edmunds), but we play team defense. A.J. Klein is going to come in and do a great job as always when his name’s called,” Oliver said Thursday. “… As long as I got the call, I trust A.J. Klein to give me the call and he’ll handle his business. When Tremaine gets back, it’ll be like nothing ever happened. Hopefully there’s no drop off, I expect A.J. Klein to come in and step right in and play.”’
How we see it: News sports writers predict how Bills will fare vs. Jets
‘You’d like to think this is a perfect opponent for the Bills to have a bounce-back game. The Jets are 2-6 and they’re starting inexperienced Mike White against the No. 1-ranked defense in the NFL. I’m not sure this is a get-healthy game for the Bills’ rushing attack, even though the Colts just ran for 260 yards against the Jets last week. I think that’s a bit more of a statement on how scary-good the Colts’ rushing attack is. The Jets have big people on the defensive line. But the Jets’ secondary is the weakness of the defense. They just lost their veteran leader on the back end, safety Marcus Maye. I like Josh Allen to hit some deep balls. I think White will struggle. I like the Bills a lot this week. In a division game, however, I’m nervous about giving 13 points. Bills 30, Jets 17.’
View from Vegas: Is it safe to back Bills laying two touchdowns on the road in a division game?
‘Buffalo is 7-0 against the spread vs. foes coming off a Thursday contest, and the Jets are 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 division home games. Until the Bills get their act back together again, we simply don’t trust them laying two touchdowns on the division road, after last week’s debacle in Jacksonville.’
Bills radio announcer John Murphy out of Sunday’s game with Covid-19
‘He said he is fully vaccinated and was looking into getting a booster shot.’
What’s wrong with Stefon Diggs? Actually, nothing, as his numbers are similar to 2020
‘So again, a little down from a year ago, nothing too alarming, but that doesn’t change the fact that it just feels like Diggs isn’t the same weapon he was a year ago.’
Bills’ Justin Zimmer placed on season-ending IR; CB Cam Lewis signed to active roster
‘Zimmer has become a Bills coaching staff favorite because of his work ethic and ability to make an impact with a limited role. He’s played six games this season and has one forced fumble, a sack, and four quarterback hits. With Zimmer no longer available, veterans Vernon Butler and Harrison Phillips – who have both been healthy scratches in several games this season – stand to get more opportunities.’
Bills have OL options in free agency: Kelechi Osemele, David DeCastro, others who could help improve struggling unit
‘Schwartz, 32, suffered a back injury in the Chiefs’ regular season win over the Bills last season and underwent surgery in the offseason. He told Forbes.com that he is still dealing with some nerve pain, but that he’s rehabbing in hopes of possibly playing again.’
For Bills Fans, 2021 Feels Like 1989 Again
‘Just as 2020 was 1988 again, 2021 is starting to feel like 1989 again in this sense: The Bills are a good team on the way to being a great team. Half way through the 2021 regular season, it looks like a Super Bowl victory is something not for this season but for another one soon. (Yes, it will be a delight to eat those words in February 2022.)’

Bills place defensive tackle Zimmer on IR, sign CB Cam Lewis
‘Zimmer is a dependable backup who appeared in Buffalo’s first six games before being inactive the past two weeks. He’s a fourth-year player who was in his second season with Buffalo, and had one sack, four quarterback pressures and six tackles for losses this season.’
Bills face Jets looking to rebound from frustrating loss
‘“Of course we’re all extremely frustrated just because losing, nobody wants to lose,” Diggs said. “Especially not me. Anybody who takes a loss easy, I’ll show you a loser. I digested it, looked at the game, watched the tape, and figured out things I could do better. Just try to move forward.”’
Bills, Allen hoping to get back on track vs. White-led Jets
‘Key matchup: Jets D-line vs. QB Josh Allen. New York is ranked last in the NFL in overall defense, and the defensive line — supposed to be a strength — has struggled the last few weeks. The Jets will need to try to contain Allen up front with pressure from the D-line, which can’t give the Bills QB time or he’ll throw and/or run all over them.’
Bills defensive tackle Justin Zimmer out for season
‘Quarterback Jake Fromm and wide receiver Tanner Gentry will now revert back to the practice squad from the Reserve/COVID-19 list, while cornerback Cam Lewis was signed to a contract and added to the active 53-man roster.’
