McDermott: Davis Mills ‘will be a challenge’ to defend
‘”He looks like he can make every throw,” McDermott said during his weekly appearance on the “Extra Point Show” with Sal Capaccio and “Sneaky Joe” DiBiase. “He’s tough. I mean, he’s taken some shots and gotten up. And [he’s] a smart, smart player. He played at a great school like Stanford and a great institution educationally like Stanford. I know he’s off to a great start. He’s got one of the highest, if not the highest rookie passer rating this season above all those other well-decorated and highly-celebrated players. We have a lot of respect for him, and that’ll be a challenge for us.”‘
Poyer, Feliciano ruled out for Sunday’s Bills vs. Texans game
‘Jordan Poyer was injured in the team’s week three game against the Washington Football Team. He was seen on the trainer’s table and was walking around the sideline during the 4th quarter of the game. He didn’t practice all week as he continues to nurse his ankle.’

Next Man Up | Bills will lean on team’s depth heading into Week 4
‘Bills guard Jon Feliciano will miss his eighth game since coming to Buffalo in 2019. He’s played and started in 12 straight games since he came back in Week 8 of last season off the pec injury he suffered in the 2020 offseason. In his absence this week, the Bills have Ike Boettger, Ryan Bates and Spencer Brown who could fill in for the injured lineman. Out of the three, Boettger has the most starting experience, starting the seven games Feliciano missed last season.’

7 things to watch for in Bills vs. Texans | Week 4
‘The situation in Houston is far different. They’ve undergone a complete from the top to the bottom of the organization. A new GM in Nick Caserio, new head coach in David Culley and a vastly overturned roster that has just five starters remaining from that Wild Card playoff game.’
Bills LB Matt Milano embraces a more vocal role
‘“To see Matt now verbally communicate, and really echo some of what Tremaine’s commands are, it’s making us a better defense and it’s making him a better player because it forces him to lock in on every little detail,” Frazier said. “And it’s something he’s embraced from the offseason, through the preseason, and now through the regular season. So, it’s really good for our defense that he’s become more vocal in the communication.”’
PlayAction: Bills, Texans a study in roster-building contrasts
Gaine was fired by the Houston Texans after only 17 months as general manager in June 2019. The move was the beginning of the end of the Texans’ six-year run of success under former coach Bill O’Brien. Gaine essentially lost a power struggle with O’Brien and Jack Easterby, the executive vice president of football operations who was hired away from New England in April 2019.’
How we see it: News’ predictions for Bills vs. Texans in Week 4
‘Mark Gaughan: I hate giving away double-digit points. However, I love picking against rookie quarterbacks in their first road start. Which betting principle is more significant? Houston’s Davis Mills made only 11 career starts in college at Stanford. Texans coach David Culley suggested he would take the straight-jacket off Mills this week. The Texans were ultra conservative in play-calling against a good Carolina defense last week. If the Bills get a lead, is Mills ready to start slinging it? On the other side of the ball, I was surprised how much pressure the Houston pass rush was able to get on Sam Darnold. This is an unheralded front seven, to say the least. If Tyrod Taylor were starting for the Texans, the spread obviously would not be as large, but I’d probably take the points. Tyrod is good at protecting the ball and keeping games close. I’ll be surprised if Mills can play a turnover-free game. Bills, 30-13.’
