‘But Allen’s ability to lead a lightning-quick drive to get the Bills in field goal range at the end of the first half, when they took over at their own 20-yard line with 26 seconds to go, coupled with a backbreaking 93-yard, 17-play touchdown drive to begin the second half, left little doubt as to the outcome of the game or whether last season’s record-setting offense was an aberration.’

Observations: Grieving the loss of his grandmother, Brian Daboll’s offense puts on inspired performance
‘“Daboll lost his grandma this last week, and she was the woman that raised him,” the quarterback said. “So he had a pretty tough week, and to go out there and play the way we did and execute the way we did … I know him and his family are hurting right now.”’
Takeaways are back for Bills’ defense in stuffing Washington
The Bills forced three turnovers Sunday, while also neutralizing the Washington offense in other ways. Washington finished with 290 yards of offense, unable to keep up with the Bills and sustain drives. Washington was just 2 for 11 on third down.
Three questions: Josh Allen’s passes under pressure destroyed WFT front four
‘Yes, the Bills’ offensive line deserves a ton of credit, too. The front five was a lot better in this game than against Pittsburgh’s dominant front four in Week 1. Left tackle Dion Dawkins, especially, played much better than in Week 1. Dawkins faced Sweat much of the game. Sweat was credited with just three tackles and just one hit on the quarterback. Guard Jon Feliciano played much better than in Week 1, as well.’
Plays that shaped the game: Bills ate up zone coverage in middle of field
‘Washington has a solid cast of defensive backs, but its linebackers – Cole Holcomb and Jon Bostic – are not elite in coverage. Allen and the Bills receivers worked them over repeatedly. And Washington slot cornerback Kendall Fuller had a rough time keeping track of Cole Beasley.’
Quarter by quarter: Sanders gets first TDs as a Bill as offense overwhelms WFT
‘Beasley-Allen time: Wide receiver Cole Beasley had 98 yards on 11 receptions, with a lot of that coming on that third quarter drive. Allen threw Beasley’s way five times that series, with Beasley catching them all.’
Report card: Passing game, defense earn easy ‘A’ grades in big Bills win over Washington
‘The yards per carry of 3.7, however, told the story of how tough the running game found it at times. Quarterback Josh Allen reached the end zone on the ground from 2 yards out in the fourth quarter.’
4 Bills fans barred from stadium for having no proof of vaccination
‘But the county has no figures from the Bills about any fans Highmark Stadium workers might have barred. Several Bills spokesmen did not respond to questions about the matter.’
Josh Allen delivers masterpiece in Bills’ rout over Washington: 3 instant reactions
‘But Sunday, Allen came out firing and if not for a great play by Washington’s Antonio Gibson on his long catch and run touchdown, and then a miscue on special teams which set up another quick Football Team score, this one would have been a colossal blowout. As it was, it was your average run of the mill blowout.’
Maiorana: Bills deliver WFT beatdown with dynamic offense not interested in taking a knee
‘“When we got word that we were going to be aggressive there, I love those types of situations,” said Allen, who operated that 26-second drill the way the greats of the game, the Bradys and Rodgers and Mannings all have. “That type of trust that you have in your offense, we feel that when coach is allowing us to go out there and be us. It’s a good feeling.”’
Bills report card: Josh Allen dedicates 5 TD performance to coach after grandmother’s death
The game was pretty much in hand in the first half, but right after Washington’s breakthrough TD catch-and-run by Gibson, the Bills kickoff team allowed a short kick by Washington’s Dustin Hopkins to hit the ground, and a crazy hop wound up right in Hopkins’ hands for a recovery at the Buffalo 24, and that set up Washington’s second TD. Isaiah McKenzie later had a 33-yard punt return called back on a holding penalty against Tyler Matakevich which cost the Bills 28 yards in field position. And then Tyler Bass, who made a 48-yard field goal to end the first half, kicked the ball out of bounds to start the third quarter, giving the Football Team a drive start at the 40, though they went nowhere. Bass, who also made field goals of 29 and 21 yards, managed five touchbacks on eight kickoffs.
Allen finds his 2020 self as the Bills roll
‘And, suddenly, some of the concerns that began with the season-opening 23-16 home loss to Pittsburgh and the non-fatal mistakes versus the Dolphins have dissipated.’
Allen turns Daboll’s loss into a win
‘Allen was 32-of-43 passing for 358 yards with four touchdown passes, no interceptions or sacks and a 129.8 passer rating. He connected twice for scores with wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, the free agent acquisition, hitting him for 28 and five yards. In addition, he connected with tight end Dawson Knox and running back Zack Moss for TDs of 14 and seven yards, respectively. Allen also muscled his 6-foot-5, 240-pound frame into the end zone on a 2-yard scoring run early in the fourth quarter to give the Bills their largest advantage at 43-14.’
Three takeaways key Bills over WFT
‘The Gibson touchdown was the longest reception against the Bills since a 77-yard TD by the Bengals’ A.J. Green from Andy Dalton in a 2017 defeat.’
Buffalo Bills win in blowout over Washington Football Team; Josh Allen erupts with 5 TDs (7 observations)
‘Josh Allen turned the clock back to 2020, dominating the Football Team and igniting the Bills passing attack. Buffalo scored points in all four quarters and Allen completed passes to eight different receivers.’
