Trubisky Shines As Bills Roll Past Bears With 41-15 Win
‘“It felt good to do it against these guys, but I’m also rooting for a lot of those guys on the other side and they’re still like family to me,” Trubisky said.’
Mitchell Trubisky returns to Soldier Field, stars for Buffalo Bills in victory over Chicago Bears
‘”I feel like each week, I’m getting a little better grasp of the offense. … It was different coming back here in Chicago. It was awesome to see all the guys and coaches before the game, catching up with those guys, and then how supportive everyone in the Bills’ locker room was for me,” Trubisky said. “I’m just really grateful to be a part of this team.”‘
Mitchell Trubisky makes Bears pay in return to Chicago, powers Bills to blowout preseason victory
‘The Trubisky revenge-game narrative was in full force on Saturday. The former Bears quarterback came out hot after getting the start with Josh Allen not playing in the contest. Trubisky played the entire first half and led the Bills on four straight touchdown drives. He completed more than 70% of his passes for 221 yards and a touchdown, while also logging 11 yards on the ground. Trubisky’s mobility around the pocket also gave Chicago’s defense fits throughout the day. Of course, all of these performances have to be taken with a grain of salt given that it’s the preseason, but Buffalo should be feeling really good about its quarterback situation. Not only do the Bills have an MVP-caliber quarterback in Allen, but if Trubisky can keep that play up he’s one of the better backups in the league. Meanwhile, Buffalo’s defense suffocated Dalton and the Bears early, creating two turnovers in the first half.’
Bills dominate Bears in Trubisky’s return to Chicago
‘Trubisky went on to play the first two quarters against his former team on Saturday, and finished the game by going 20-of-28 for an impressive 221 yards and a touchdown pass.’
Opinion: Bills at Bears: Arrow Up/Arrow Down
‘Fromm didn’t have a very good game throwing the ball, finishing only 3-for-7 for 20 yards, but he was also under duress and sacked twice. While Fromm was playing quarterback, the Bills only had two possessions, gained 28 total net yards, and punted on both possessions.’
Bills turn in dominating preseason performance in 41-15 win over Bears
‘Trubisky had a solid outing against his former team, finishing 20-of-28 for 221 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah McKenzie led the pass game, catching seven of Trubisky’s passes for 72 yards. He also had three punt returns for 51 yards. The Bills ground game was led by Reggie Gilliam who had eight carries for 24 yards and two touchdowns.’
Mitch Trubisky shines in return to Chicago as Bills steamroll Bears
‘On Saturday, Trubisky led his team to a 41-15 win and was lights out during the first half when he saw his most significant action as a member of the Bills. Trubisky completed 20 of 28 attempts for 221 yards and a touchdown as his new team cruised to victory against his former team.’
Emphasis on pass rush gives Bills defense solid outing against Bears
‘The defensive performance was pretty solid from start to finish as they limited the Bears to just 15 points, applying pressure all game and not making it easy for their opponent’s quarterback room. The unit, rotating all game, finished with four sacks and 12 QB hits.’
Reggie Gilliam embraces versatility in Bears game
‘The feeling between Gilliam and the Bills is mutual. Before his first touchdown, Gilliam paved the way on a toss to Zack Moss that moved Buffalo all the way to the one-yard line. The efficiency of the running game has been a point of emphasis for the Bills; whatever role Gilliam plays, he’s happy to do it.’
Bills silence Bears 41-15 in second preseason game
‘“It felt good to come back and perform well,” Trubisky said after the game. “I owe a lot of that to my teammates, run after catch, great plays on defense and special teams, we won the turnover battle in the first half. Thought we were efficient. I’m still rooting for a lot of those guys on the other side, they’re still family to me.”’
Mitch Trubisky, young defensive ends shine in Bills second preseason game vs. Bears
‘What was also impressive about Trubisky’s performance is he was doing it without guys like Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders. One of Trubisky’s favorite targets was Isaiah McKenzie who also proved he can make an impact not just on special teams but in the passing game. He ended with seven catches for 72 yards.’
4 Observations: Bills at Bears preseason win
‘Young defensive lineman impress. Greg Rousseau, Carlos Basham, and A.J. Epenesa all flashed with some big plays against the Bears. Basham, the 2nd round pick, was on the field longer than Rousseau and Epenesa so he had more opportunities and he took advantage of his playing time. Basham picked up his 1st career sack and led the team with 5 tackles. Rousseau pressured Andy Dalton on a 2nd quarterback pass play and then registered a sack on the very next play. Rousseau shoved the Bears right tackle back into Dalton’s lap for his 2nd sack of the preseason. Epenesa didn’t record a sack but was also able to put pressure on the quarterback during the first half. It was a very good day for the young Bills up front.’
Dawkins “climbing the ladder of recovery” in return to field
‘“Every bit that I touch that grass I’m starting to feel more and more like myself and it’s all part of the process of recovery from any injury or any sickness or illness, I’m just climbing the ladder of recovery,” Dawkins said.’
