‘The Bills took one knock away from their first preseason game. Isaiah Hodgins left the game in the 3rd quarter with what looked like a knee injury. “I still haven’t met with our trainer yet,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said in his post-game press conference. Hodgins was seen walking off the field toward the locker room at the end of the game.’

Tommy Sweeney fully recovered from heart condition caused by COVID-19
‘“The heart’s obviously a pretty serious thing for us human beings, so yes, it’s alarming,” Sweeney said with reporters earlier in the week. “It was a lot at once, talking about that, talking about real life, the season’s over. I thought about the career, but the doctors that I talked to and everybody here was great about it. Obviously it wasn’t a good thing, but they were pretty confident I could comeback after I got through the three month period.”’
Opinion: Arrow Up/Arrow Down: Bills at Lions preseason
‘I’ve been saying for weeks that the Bills linebacker group is really deep and underrated on the back-end. Along with Davis (above), Giles-Harris showed an example of that. He was all over the field, and seemingly always near the ball, finishing with five total tackles.’
Tyler Bass hits three field goals as Bills defeat Lions 16-15 in first game of preseason
‘Davis Webb led the Bills in passing going 11-16 and throwing for 90 yards and one touchdown.’
DE Greg Rousseau debuts with sack after over a year off
‘”It was really great to be back out there. It was real fun. The [defensive] line, we’re really tight, you know? We live for things like that. The whole team does,” Rousseau said. “Definitely been a minute. It’s been over a year… it was a great time though.”‘
“There’s no other opportunity like this”, Bills DE Efe Obada enjoying his NFL journey
‘He was born in Nigeria, was homeless at one point, and spent his younger years living in foster homes. After playing British American football in 2014, Obada got a shot in the NFL a year later, signing as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys.’
How the game of golf saved Bills safety Jordan Poyer’s life
‘“It [golf] gave me a sense of pride, a sense of commitment and love that I hadn’t found before, that I hadn’t seen before, that I hadn’t felt before.”’
Bills top Lions 16-15 in Preseason opener
‘Just over a minute and a half left to play, with Jake Fromm under center, the Bills looked to get into field goal range to put the game in the hands of Tyler Bass. On fourth down, Fromm chucks it deep and connects with Marquez Stevenson for a 42-yard pass to keep the drive alive! Fromm would lead the Bills into field goal territory, and Bass would boot a 44-yard field goal right down the middle for the win!’
Bills pass rush shines and shows huge improvement in preseason opener vs. Lions
‘“It was a great feeling to get my first sack and be able to get back there but really it’s just a testament to the whole defense, you know the secondary holding up in coverage, the other three d-linemen rushing their butts off so really even though I got the sack it’s really just a team effort and I’m happy we got him down,” Rousseau said after the game.’
4 Observations: Bills at Lions preseason game
‘Running back Devin Singletary was one of the few starters who played on offense and he carried the load. The 3rd year back had 8 carries, 42 yards, and a touchdown catch. Zack Moss did not play and is dealing with a hamstring injury so Singletary made the most of his opportunity to hold on to the starting job.’
Bills beat Detroit in preseason opener with late field goal drive
‘The defensive line, which general manager Brandon Beane addressed with the first and second-round picks in the most recent NFL Draft with Gregory Rousseau and Carlos Basham, showed an ability to get pressure on the Lions’ quarterbacks.’
Bills players flash as Buffalo wins in Detroit
‘Receiver Isaiah Hodgins left the game with a knee injury, while running back Antonio Williams suffered a stinger but he did return in the fourth quarter.’

Top 3 things we learned from Bills at Lions | Preseason Week 1
‘The offseason mantra from both GM Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott was they had to run the ball more effectively in 2021. It was clear from the beginning of the game Friday night that the Bills were going to work on that part of their offense. Buffalo’s first four plays from scrimmage were run plays, and eight of their first 10 play calls were runs. The Bills gained 36 yards on their first eight carries for a 4.5 yards per carry average.’
