‘On Wednesday, the Bills signed Zimmer to a two-year contract, adding him to the 53-man roster and releasing guard Quinton Spain. The Bills couldn’t promote him from the practice squad for a third time without offering a new contract, and another team was interested in signing him, his agent, Kevin Poston, said. He declined to disclose the suitor.’

Bills tight end Dawson Knox tests positive for Covid-19
‘Without Knox and Smith, the team has two tight ends on the active roster — veteran Tyler Kroft and rookie undrafted free agent Reggie Gilliam. According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Kroft missed having close contact with Knox because his wife went into labor for more than 24 hours before delivering a baby girl at about 5 a.m. Friday. Kroft returned to the team in time for Friday’s practice, but missed being in close contact during positional meetings.’
Scouting report: Bills’ Sean McDermott has clear upper hand in coaching matchup
‘Prediction: Bills 35, Jets 13.’
Three matchups to watch for Bills vs. Jets
‘The Jets’ offense is last in the NFL on third down, converting 30.2%. The Bills’ defense has slumped to 30th on third downs, allowing 53.5%. The Bills held the Jets to just 3.5 yards a carry in the opener, and there’s no Le’Veon Bell to deal with this week. He’s in Kansas City. The prospects look good for getting the Jets into a bunch of third-and-long situations. And the Jets’ offensive line is struggling with injuries and cohesiveness. This should be a game for the Bills’ edge rushers to beef up their numbers.’
One-on-One Coverage: Micah Hyde on Bills finding defensive identity
‘“I think the personnel that we have, guys that we have on this defense, it’s not the players,” Hyde said. “We’ve just got to go out there and really dial in and focus. We don’t need to ship guys out, bring you guys in or something like that. I think that as long as you remain calm, everybody takes a step back and really looks at themselves in the mirror and realizes what more can they do – stop making the same mistakes and learn from each and every game – we’ll be fine.’
Bills Mailbag: What to make of the rash of injuries?
‘I’d say this season simply falls more in line with what is normal. The Bills enjoyed a remarkable run last season when it came to avoiding injuries. It’s possible the condensed offseason and lack of preseason games could play a part, too, but that’s not a guarantee, either. The issue is the Bills have had certain positions hit with multiple injuries at the same time. That’s very difficult for any team to overcome.’
Bills tight end Dawson Knox tests positive for COVID-19
‘Of that group, Sweeney has been on injured reserve all season and was not going to play, and Becker is on the practice squad. Smith would have been active against the Jets, but now, the only tight ends available are Tyler Kroft and Reggie Gilliam.’
The winless Jets might be just the right tonic for the slumping Bills to get back on track
‘My pick: Bills 27, Jets 13.’
Bills’ Dawson Knox tests positive for Covid-19; team makes multiple roster moves
‘Jackson was an expected call up because the team will be without starting cornerback Josh Norman, who injured his hamstring in practice this week. The Bills will also be without starting left guard Cody Ford, who suffered a knee injury last week. Devey has some position flexibility and Ike Boettger is expected to start. Williams could earn playing time with John Brown ruled out with a knee injury. Smith is depth behind Tremaine Edmunds and A.J. Klein with Dodson out and Matt Milano listed as questionable with a pectoral injury.’
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets 2020: Preview, odds, predictions for Week 7
‘The Bills have to get back to what they did so well in the first half of the season: getting out to a lead early. In the past two games – both losses – the Titans and Chiefs scored the game’s first touchdown. Allen should do even better against the Jets’ bad secondary this time around and I expect Devin Singletary and the Buffalo run game to get going in this one, perhaps even Singletary breaking 100 yards rushing in a game for the first time this season.’
Tim Settle: Why Bills should acquire Washington Football Team DT
‘Whereas Tomlinson will be a free agent at the end of the season, Settle is under contract through 2021. His deal is also quite affordable for Buffalo.’
How to watch Bills at Jets: TV channel, time, live stream information
‘Short-handed or not, Buffalo’s roster is significantly better than that of the Jets even with backups playing on both sides of the ball. New York will get a boost at quarterback with Sam Darnold returning, but the team is expected to be without Jamison Crowder, their best wide receiver. Through six games, New York’s offense has struggled to execute on the field and the results speak for themselves.’
Five takes: Bills in need of convincing win as they take on Jets; Buffalo run game, pass rush must show improvement
‘This afternoon against a hapless Jets team, it will be increasingly crucial for Buffalo to start fast, especially in the passing game. When playing a lesser team, it’s important to take that team’s will to win as quickly as possible. In other words, you cannot let a team like the Jets hang around.’
Bills are making Jets’ Sam Darnold failure even more damning
‘Allen (67.1 completion percentage, 16 touchdowns, four interceptions, 37-for-143 rushing with three TDs) has taken a Lambeau Leap in his third season while his pal Darnold (59.4 completion percentage, three TDs, four INTs, 14-117-1 rushing) has landed in quicksand, and an examination of how the Bills (4-2) and the Worst Team in Football (0-6) have supported and developed each reveals why.’
