‘“It’s hard when you’re not a starter, in fairness to him,” Bills general manager Brandon Beane said. “There’s no blame to go around. Quinton Spain’s a good guy, a good person. He didn’t see this. You never know how things are going to work out when you put a roster together. Every team’s a new team. Nothing happened. There’s no one thing like, this happened and the dam broke and all the water went out. It’s just, we decided at the end of the day, being today, that he would be happier having a chance to start. And so we just gave him that freedom and wish him nothing but the best.”’

Column: Even with Bills’ one-eleventh mantra, big-time players need to step up
‘A third consecutive loss wouldn’t technically kill the Bills’ chances of winning the AFC East or making another wild-card playoff appearance, but it would feel as if that’s where this season was headed. After Sunday, there are no more gimmes on the schedule.’
Bills running game is struggling. Can they jump start it against the NY Jets?
‘Well, six games into the season, the Bills’ running game is officially a problem area, and with the weather about to start turning which generally makes it tougher to throw the ball, and the competition on the schedule picking back up again following Sunday’s game against the Triple-A Jets, Buffalo needs to get it figured out.’
Quinton Spain, who the Bills re-signed as a free agent, was cut by the team Wednesday
‘Beane also said this was in the works for a few weeks because Spain was not happy about his demotion.’
Source: Bills add Justin Zimmer to 53-man roster after another team attempts to sign DT
‘Zimmer’s strong play caught the attention of another NFL team. A league source told NYUP that a team attempted to sign Zimmer to their 53-man roster on Wednesday. Despite being one of the Bills’ protected players, opposing teams have a 48-hour window following the conclusion of Buffalo’s game to sign protected players off of practice squads. Instead of losing Zimmer, Buffalo signed him with the roster spot that was opened following Quinton Spain’s release.’
Buffalo Bills release veteran LG Quinton Spain a month after benching him
‘The terms of Spain’s deal were for three years and $15 million with just $4.5 million guaranteed. Buffalo will have to eat $1 million of dead cap in 2021 and $500,000 in 2022 after releasing Spain.’
Giants’ Dalvin Tomlinson: Bills should acquire DT for these 5 reasons
‘Buffalo has struggled to get themselves in favorable third down situations on defense this year. Having Tomlinson, a player who is able to create stops, a play that is effectively a loss for the opposing team, would greatly benefit Buffalo.’

Ferris coach impressed with Zimmer’s NFL career
‘“He was always an overpowering athlete,” Annese said. “As he grew in our program, physically and mentality, he went from being a linebacker to a D end to an interior D lineman. His senior year when he was D end, I told him his best chance to get into the NFL was gain 30 pounds and try to get a 300-pounder and then you’d get a chance to be an interior D lineman in the NFL.’
Bills defense looks to rebound after consecutive losses
‘“We just haven’t found that niche yet of what’s going to work for us,” Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White said. “Is it going to be us holding teams to lower points, is it going to be us holding them to lower yards, or is it going to be us taking the ball away? We’ve got to find which defense is going to be us.”’
Buffalo Bills release former starting guard Quinton Spain
‘The timing of his release is intriguing, however, given Ford’s current “week to week” status after injuring his knee against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6.’
Bills cut former starting guard Quinton Spain seven months after giving him $15M extension
‘Still, the veteran’s departure marks a sharp turn of events for the interior lineman. Originally undrafted out of West Virginia in 2015, Spain spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, carving out a job as a full-time left guard, then had arguably his best season to date with the Bills in 2019. Signed to a one-year contract, he took every offensive snap and did not allow a single registered sack while helping keep Josh Allen upright, earning the $15 million extension in March.’
Bills release Quinton Spain
‘Right guard John Feliciano, however, is eligible to be activated from the Injured Reserve list. Feliciano injured his pectoral muscle prior to training camp and has been on I.R. the entire season. He began practicing on October 7, which means the team has until October 27 to activate him to the 53-man roster. It’s possible they could do that prior to Sunday’s game at the New York Jets.’
Bills release offensive lineman Quinton Spain
‘Spain came to the Bills in April 2019 and the team signed him to a new three-year contract in March 2020, two days before free agency began.’
Bills ready to “put their heads down” and get back to work offensively
‘“I’m always confident in the players and coaches that we have. You have to go out there and coach well and play well each week in this league,” Bills Offensive Coordinator Brian Daboll said. “We’re not going to ride a rollercoaster, that’s not what we’re going to do. We’re going to put our head down and work, we’re going to have a good week of practice for a team that’s hungry for a good week.”‘
