‘”He missed a few games with the hamstring, so that was one of the things we were talking to him this year about–the offseason, making sure he was doing the proper stretching and strength training to prevent an injury such as that because we did miss him for those three weeks last year. So we’ll count on Devin just like Josh [Allen] taking a step from year one to year two, we’ll count on Devin to take that step. Now that Frank’s gone, he’s our starter. And then we’re excited about Zack [Moss] and what he’ll bring.”‘

Inside the Bills: After a week of practices, a 53-man roster projection
‘The Bills might be hesitant to expose a player like Johnson to waivers, but they do in this scenario.’
Bills Mailbag: What should we expect from Zack Moss as a rookie?
‘Moss has been really impressive during the first week of practices open to the media. He’s flashed good hands; Sean McDermott said Moss has done a good job of blocking; and he’s lived up to his reputation as a tough runner who specializes in the tough yards Eric references. No disrespect to Gore, who is a future Hall of Famer, but Moss should be an upgrade. I’d go as far as saying he might even share carries with Devin Singletary. It won’t be a perfect, 50-50 split, but the more I see Moss, the more I think it’s going to be closer than some realize.’
Girlfriend has rookie Zack Moss ready to help the Buffalo Bills’ run game
‘“I had my girlfriend, when I was out in (California) the whole time, helping me read out some plays, doing note cards,” the third-round draft pick said recently. “I can’t speak for everyone, but I know a lot of guys that were just doing a very good job of taking everything that we learned from the (virtual) meetings and then going out and just finding even our family, or you know, high school quarterbacks, college quarterbacks, whatever, and just asking them to help us learn the playbook.”’
Bills’ Mario Addison on chance to add former teammate Cam Newton to career sack list: ‘Hell yeah!’
‘“To answer that question: hell yeah,” Addison said. “I’ve gotta add Cam to my sack list, man. I’ve been playing alongside him for years. At practice I couldn’t get too close to him. So now it’s time for me to capitalize on Cam Newton whenever I get the chance.”’
Meet Buffalo Bills hard-nosed rookie Reggie Gilliam, who’s turning heads in training camp
‘Gilliam going above and beyond to film his pro day did not surprise Toledo Rockets head coach Jason Candle. Candle told NYUP that Gilliam is the type of player that will do anything he can.’
Bills’ rookie running back Moss turning heads in training camp
‘“My mentality is to never be tackled by one guy,” said Moss. “Always try to make that first defender miss by any means necessary. That’s my mentality every time I get the ball in my hands.”’
Observations from the first week of padded practices
‘The battle for wide receiver spots has been as competitive as many thought and hoped it would be. Whether it’s Duke Williams, Isaiah McKenzie, or rookies Isaiah Hodgins or Gabe Davis, each guy has made plays at different times, and are generally making the most of their opportunities.’
Quinton Jefferson happy to be in thick of the action on Bills’ defensive line
‘“I’m excited for the opportunity to do more duties inside at the nose. To me, it’s about being a technician. If you have good technique, stay low, have fast, quick and violent hands, firing off the ball, it’s pretty easy to split a double team.”’
Bills Notebook: Decision day coming for Cody Ford’s position
‘“When I say this week, maybe over the next seven days,” he said. “So we’ll just see. We’re still looking at some things, trying to evaluate, make sure we have a full evaluation and understanding of our situation, both what that would do at the starter level and what it would do and how it would impact our depth behind those starters. So before we make any final move, we’re going to take all those factors into consideration.”’
Another Voice: Bills should rename home field for Marv Levy
‘A simple gesture, perhaps, but a powerful way to celebrate the coach whose time at the helm of this proud franchise brought so much pride and joy to Western New York. A time when Bills fans stood on top of the world.’
Finding enough practice time for four QBs is a challenge for the Bills
‘“That’s a challenge when you’ve got four,” McDermott said. “It’s good to have four, don’t get me wrong, but we have a limited amount of reps. You have to find a way to get them all enough reps to evaluate them. And I think all four of them have done a nice job.”‘
Buffalo Bills have Ziggy Ansah on their radar (report)
‘Ansah, 31, most recently played with the Seattle Seahawks. In 2019, he appeared in 11 games (one start) and recorded 18 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, eight QB hits, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.’
Bills’ Edmunds trending toward breakthrough season; LB’s leadership qualities, on-field play shines early in camp
‘“His growth even in these walk-throughs that we’ve had, you can see it – he is much more comfortable much more at ease with what we’re asking him to do,” said Bills’ defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. “His leadership qualities are beginning to show even more in his third season which is really good for our defense.”’
Bills cornerback Josh Norman out with hamstring injury
‘“Those take some time to really get a good read on,” McDermott said of Norman’s injury, making it unclear if the player will be available for the Bills’ opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 13. “The biggest thing right now is that he maximizes those treatment opportunities so that he can get back out there as soon as possible.”’
