‘“We believe in winning up front. That’s where the game starts,” McDermott said in June. “We want to be able to give ourselves options on both fronts and have … quality backups, as well, as it relates to the defensive line, being able to continually bring fastballs, play at a high level, high intensity level up front.”’

Bills Mailbag: What’s the holdup on contract extensions?
‘With the lost revenue that will result from games being played without fans in attendance, there could be a big impact on the salary cap for 2021. That, in turn, would have an impact on any contract negotiations.’
Former Buffalo Bills DT Kyle Williams leading American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament
‘Heading into day two of the competition, Williams’ main competition is former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (20 points) and former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz (20 points). Both are paired with Williams on day two of the event.’
Camp Countdown 2020 | Which free agent will have the biggest impact?
‘Addison is entering his 10th season in the NFL but says at age 32, he feels in his best shape yet. Addison is a seasoned vet who can help lead younger defensive linemen like Ed Oliver and Darryl Johnson. McDermott has already said Addison is acting like a leader during Zoom meetings, something that’s not easy to do as a new player meeting his team for the first time in a virtual setting. Pair Addison’s skill set on the field with his ability to lead in the locker room, you have a player that is bound to make the team better in 2020.’
E.J. Gaines ready to put bad luck behind him in bid to win Bills job
‘Gaines has performed well as a starting cornerback in his career whenever he has gotten the chance. Unfortunately, he has not been able to avoid injuries.’
Bills’ defensive backs jockeying for position
Brasky: League, players must get on same page with NFL training camp on the horizon
‘Buffalo Bills’ defensive end Jerry Hughes also chimed in. “Soooooo we (can) knock each other silly for (60 minutes,) but must social distance after the game,” posted Hughes. “Will we have water bottles and (orange emoji) with our names on them at halftime.”’
Sullivan: A bar, an old friend and a conversation about the Bills
‘“Josh will be getting the big payday soon,” Rex said. “I see a breakthrough year for the kid. I don’t care if they have to give him $35 million a year. They haven’t paid that kind of money for a quarterback in decades. Where did it get them?”’
New York NFL teams won’t have to quarantine for two weeks ahead of camp, governors say
‘The teams must, however, take a coronavirus test and have it come back negative before they can participate. Training camp is currently set for late July.’
Camp Countdown 2020 | Who will be the Bills place kicker?
‘”I remember the first practice, going to the end zone and just seeing the ball flight,” Farwell said. “I mean, he was kicking some deep kicks, just impressive and that’s where it first got my attention. Then going back after that and watching the tape, and seeing the talent, seeing the upside in this kid, and just really thought there’s a lot of potential in him. He’s a really talented kid.”‘
Vosean Joseph one of the Bills’ few unknowns entering training camp
‘Joseph is a Miami native who attended the University of Florida. He bypassed his final season of college eligibility to turn pro in 2019 after finishing with 161 tackles, four sacks, one interception and two fumble recoveries in 37 games with the Gators. A 6-foot-1, 230-pounder, Joseph’s athleticism was a big selling point coming out of college. A hamstring injury suffered during the pre-draft process prevented Joseph from running the 40-yard dash, but NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah touted Joseph’s “excellent athleticism and outstanding closing burst” in his scouting report.’
Identifying linebacker depth is one of Bills’ pressing camp priorities
‘“It’s unfortunate that we haven’t had a chance to view the guys that are in backup roles at linebacker for us this year,” defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier said. “That would have been good for us. I feel good about our starters, having Tremaine back, having Matt back. … But the backups are really unknowns.”’
Maiorana’s Memories: A glorious 2003 opener as the Bills crushed the Patriots
‘Once that happened, you just had a sense that something special was going to happen on that opening Sunday, and it certainly did, a victory that landed big Sam Adams on the cover of Sports Illustrated a few days later. The Bills laid waste to the Patriots, a thorough 31-0 flogging that seemed to portend big things were to come. Alas, that didn’t happen.’
Buffalo Bills’ Jon Feliciano and Reid Ferguson rightly criticize NFL for prohibiting jersey exchanges in 2020
‘Ferguson also criticized the NFL’s latest policy. Ferguson joked that he will have his brother, Dolphins long snapper Blake Ferguson, ship him his jersey following Bills-Dolphins matchups in 2020.’
Diggs: ‘I’d be lying if I said I was comfortable’ with NFL starting
‘Instead, we can safely assume that he’s talking about health and safety, like so many other players are likely doing, in public or behind the scenes. He says that he’s been “training (his) butt off… to stay ready and prepared” in case anything does happen, but you’ve got to figure that it’s difficult at a time like this to focus on both physical and mental preparation of an NFL season when there are so many questions out in the open, as he alluded to.”‘
