‘“I think for us right now we just have to keep building off that continuity. It’s gonna be tough not being around the guys to get that face-to-face time of getting to know one another because one thing that we pride ourselves on is building those relationships because it’s gonna help us on how we play on the field as far as communication. That’s one thing we spend a lot of time on developing that communication on the field during this spring time,” Hughes explained.’

Polian sees historical parallels in Bills’ draft situation
‘“We talked about it at the time we made the trade for Cornelius Bennett,” Polian said by phone from his home in North Carolina, where he’s sheltering in place and doing draft analysis for Sirius Radio. “He was going to be our first-round pick the following year. We were getting him a year early, that’s all. That one was a no-brainer at the time.’
‘Just get a back late in the draft’ is much harder than it seems, Bills prospects on trading for RB Fournette
‘In the last two years, there have been zero running backs drafted after round three that have rushed for a thousand yards. There were only four from day three of the 2016 and 2017 drafts who topped 1,000: Marlon Mack, Chris Carson, Aaron Jones and Jordan Howard. That’s four backs out of 66 drafted. A success rate of 6%.’

Why being aggressive on draft day has its rewards
‘”When we want to acquire someone, seeing if there’s a guy that I think fits a need and the value, that’s probably where some people maybe I get too aggressive in the draft,” said Beane. “But if there’s a guy that I think is a real sure fit – If I overpaid a little bit, so be it. It’s better than waiting, sitting on my hands and I’m not really fired up about a guy when my pick comes up. That’s just my viewpoint, that may not be 31 other GMs but that’s how I see it.”‘
Draft Memories: Dawson Knox
‘Most other facilities were very basic, and I mean in college, in the SEC, all the teams are competing with each other to recruit players and everything’s got to be the best of the best. It wasn’t like that everywhere in the NFL but then I got to Buffalo, and it was nicer than anything I’d ever seen before. It was really cool and then finally getting to sit down with Coach Boras and Coach McDermott, Coach Daboll, go out to dinner…it was pretty awesome to get to know everybody. That made it a lot more exciting when I actually got picked.’
Bills named AFC Equipment Staff of the Year
‘”Being from Buffalo and growing up here and always wearing New Era caps, it’s pretty cool,” Mazurek explained. “We knew this year that we had a good chance because we were really dialed in.”‘
Bills Today | Could this draft trade make sense for Buffalo?
‘Several analysts think Buffalo should target a defensive end or corner in the early rounds in order to add to depth and hopefully find a starter in years to come.’
