Buffalo Bills suspend travel of coaches and scouts due to COVID-19 concerns
‘Despite sports cancellations at all levels, the NFL draft is still scheduled to take place as of Thursday afternoon.’
Quinton Spain to re-sign with Bills
‘Reports state his new contract will be $15 million for three years.’
Before free agency begins, Bills scouts are keeping an eye here for potential talent
‘The good news for Buffalo’s pro staff is there’s a level of familiarity with a good number of players currently in the XFL. “Fortunately we know a lot of these guys,” Beane told Buffalobills.com. “So we know most of them in one form or another. We’ve seen many of them in training camps. I’ve seen a good number of them myself and I don’t scout to the extent that our staff does.”‘
Bills Today | NFL.com believes the Bills are “trending upward” with QB situation
‘Josh Allen might actually be the guy in Buffalo after all — even if he gets the job done in a bit of an unorthodox way. The quarterback led the Bills to a wild-card berth in 2019, completing 58.8 percent of his passes for 3,089 yards with a 20:9 TD-to-INT ratio, and he nearly broke Buffalo’s “gets us” meter when he stepped off a plane in frigid temperatures wearing only a short-sleeved hoodie and a ballcap. That makes for a beloved signal-caller in Western New York. But he’ll have to cut down on his running (109 attempts, 510 yards, nine touchdowns) if he wants to make a long career out of this. For now, there’s optimism in Buffalo. We’ll see if the Bills can take the next step with Allen in 2020.’
Bills could turn to Carolina connection for free-agent help on O-line
‘Besides having been Panthers guards, the other quality Williams and Van Roten share is they would be far cheaper to sign than higher-end offensive linemen in free agency. That list includes guards Joe Thuney of the New England Patriots, Brandon Scherff of the New York Giants, and tackles Anthony Castonzo of the Indianapolis Colts, Jack Conklin of the Tennessee Titans and Bryan Bulaga of the Green Bay Packers.’
Bills to spend more time with defensive line prospects Ross Blacklock, Jonathan Greenard
‘Blacklock is projected as a first-round pick.’
If Josh Norman doesn’t make Bills’ 53-man roster here’s how much money he’ll make
‘Norman’s deal has a base salary of $2.8 million with $1.5 million in guaranteed money. He’ll get a $1.5 million roster bonus on the fifth day of the league year (March 23) and then another $500k if he makes the Bills’ 53-man roster. He’ll receive a $200k workout bonus and up to $1 million in per-game roster bonuses, incentives based on playing time, interceptions, Pro Bowl and/or All Pro honors, per Graziano.’
NFL Rumors: Bills’ Shaq Lawson to get $12 million per season on free agent market next week?
‘Pelissero reported on Wednesday that several big-name free agents are set to earn bigger contracts on the open market than anticipated next week. Lawson was included with Dallas Cowboys defensive end Robert Quinn, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, Los Angeles Rams edge Dante Fowler and New York Giants edge Markus Golden as a tier of free agent pass rushers that could earn contracts in the $12-$15 million per season range.’
Source: Buffalo Bills interested in former Browns LB Christian Kirksey
‘The former Browns linebacker was released after failing to stay healthy in the last two seasons. When he was on the field, Kirksey was a productive player for the Browns. He lead the Browns in tackles (148) during the 2016 season and finished second on the team the following year with 138 total tackles. Ankle and hamstring injuries limited Kirksey to just seven games in 2018 and a season-ending pectoral injury ended his 2019 campaign after just two games.’
Details of Josh Norman’s Bills contract reported
‘Based on the details of Graziano’s report, if Norman is still on the Bills’ roster on March 22 (which should be a virtual certainty) he will have $3 million in total guaranteed and paid out money from the team. The rest of the $6 million of his contract will come in in-season salary and bonuses. If the team were to release Norman prior to opening day, they’d have to take on a $3 million salary cap hit in 2020. If Norman is on the team all season he’ll count the full $6 million against the team’s cap.’
Bills Today | Bills 2020 NFL Draft pick positions are officially set
‘Buffalo’s picks for the 2020 NFL Draft are official. The Bills have nine total picks, three of which were acquired from other teams.’
Bills pick up Spencer Long’s contract option; re-sign Robert Foster, Levi Wallace
‘Long’s base salary in 2020 is $2.55 million and his cap hit will be $4.125 million, according to contracts website spotrac.com. He has per-game bonuses for time spent on the 53-man roster and the 46-man, game-day roster. He also will receive a workout bonus of $100,000. His salary can increase by as much as $800,000 or decrease by as much as $1 million based on playing time.’
Report: Bills to host Miami LB Shaq Quarterman on pre-draft visit
‘A native of Orange Park, Fla., Quarterman is 6 foot and 234 pounds. He became the Hurricanes’ first freshman starter at middle linebacker since Dan Morgan in 1998. Morgan would later become a first-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers and is currently working in the Bills’ front office as the director of player personnel.’
Bills figure to mainly focus on depth in D-line free-agent market
‘As impressive as Phillips’ team-leading 9.5 sacks from his starting defensive tackle position was, it doesn’t change the fact he’d return next season to backing up Ed Oliver, the 2019 first-round pick he replaced as a starter in the second half of the season.’
