‘With the NFL free-agency period due to begin March 18, the following is a preliminary look at what the Bills could do…’.

Bills land intriguing edge rusher in News’ first 2020 mock draft
‘Buffalo Bills. K’Lavon Chaisson, EDGE, LSU. Yes, the Bills need a wide receiver, and there are some attractive options still on the board in this scenario. My expectation, though, is that a player the Bills like at receiver will be available on the second day of the draft, so my preference is to wait. Chaisson is just 20 years old, but the Bills showed when they drafted Tremaine Edmunds as a 19-year-old that they’re not worried about age. Chaisson had 60 tackles (13.5 of which were for a loss) and 6.5 sacks in 13 games during the Tigers’ national championship season. He led LSU in tackles for loss, sacks and quarterback hurries (six) in 2019.’
Bills Mailbag: Is Greg Olsen a good fit at tight end?
‘Olsen would be a nice addition, but not a needed one, in my mind. Dawson Knox showed enough as a rookie to lead me to believe he’s got real promise. His tendency to drop passes was troubling, but I’m willing to bet that improves. If Olsen is agreeable to a short-term deal (one or two years at most), he would provide the Bills an intriguing two-tight end set with Knox.’
Stadium talk is getting real, so WNY needs to get ready
‘Buffalo could survive the loss of the Bills, if it ever came to that. But let’s make sure it never does.’
Former Buffalo Bills dominate XFL opening day scoring
‘Jones, 27, was drafted by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft while Jackson, 22, was signed by Buffalo following the 2019 NFL Draft. Jones, the Defenders’ starting quarterback, made an impressive debut completing 16-of-26 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns. Both of his tosses went to former Bills players.’
Bills led NFL in fewest games lost by starters to injury
‘The Bills’ starters missed a combined total of just eight games all season, the fewest in the NFL and way less than the league average.’
Bills add Jacques Cesaire as assistant defensive line coach
‘Cesaire, 39, comes to the Bills after five years as the assistant defensive line coach at the University of San Diego. Cesaire played nine years with the San Diego Chargers from 2003 to 2011, appearing in 125 games with 217 tackles and 12.5 sacks.’
Bills’ assistant coaches relish a chance to give back
‘”So much of our stuff (during the season) is talking ball — chalk board talk and all that stuff,” Farwell said. “So to get out here and not even talk football at all, it’s fun to get on that different level.”‘
The NFL honored WWII vets at the Super Bowl. Thank Marv Levy for that.
‘“There were 16 million of us,” said Levy, referring to the number of Americans who served. “There are now less than a half-million still around.”’
3 things to know about new Buffalo Bills assistant DL coach Jacques Cesaire
‘Cesaire served as the Toreros’ assistant coach and defensive line coach from 2015-2019. The University of San Diego is in the Pioneer Football League of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision.’
Buffalo Bills hire Gardner High Hall of Famer Jacques Cesaire to be their assistant defensive line coach
‘After so many years spent on the west coast, Cesaire said he was excited to have returned to the east coast, even as snow fell outside his new workplace in Buffalo on Friday afternoon. “I had to buy my first coat in 15 years,” Cesaire said with a laugh. “I tried to go with just the hoodie on the first day, but it just wasn’t cutting it.”’
Football: Former Gardner High standout Jacques Cesaire returns to NFL with Bills coaching staff
‘“The opportunity to work with Eric Washington,” Cesaire said, “he is the best defensive line coach in the NFL. The evidence is clear. He knows his stuff. He’s very organized. He has dynamic presentations. He’s a leader of men, and he’s been a great mentor to me for the last four years. He had a big impact on my career teaching how to coach D-line the right way. Everything he taught me I brought back to USD and had tremendous success with it right away. When given the opportunity to come work for him, I took a shot at it. I’m getting a Ph.D. right now in D-line, and I’m really excited about that.”’
Bills hire Jacques Cesaire as assistant defensive line coach
‘Cesaire played seven years in the NFL, all with the San Diego Chargers, from 2003 to 2011, where he registered 220 career tackles, 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in 125 games. He entered the NFL as an undrafted player back in 2003 out of Southern Connecticut State.’
State of the Bills: Safety
‘Poyer, however, is going into the final year of a contract that has been a tremendous value for the Bills. He’s scheduled to make $3.45 million in base salary and bonuses. To put that into perspective, Poyer is scheduled to be the 30th-highest paid safety in the NFL in 2020, and that doesn’t include new contracts that will be handed out in free agency. He’ll count for only $4.325 million against the cap. A great value for the Bills in both respects. There’s been a lot of buzz on social media and elsewhere over the last year or so about Poyer’s contract and the team needing to pay him more. There’s no doubt he’s performed well enough to warrant a new deal and more money, but the Bills have several contracts they’ll have to address over the next year, including cornerback Tre’Davious White, linebacker Matt Milano, and offensive tackle Dion Dawkins, who are all also going into the final years of their deals. For 2020, Poyer is under contract to the Bills, and still a huge piece of what they do on defense.’
Bills running back and rugby star Christian Wade: “We have the best fans in the world”
‘”Football fans in America are just wild. We have the best fans in the world, Bills Mafia,” Wade told ESPN UK reporter Nat Coombs in an interview. “They are just crazy, throwing people through tables, although they have calmed down with that because there has been obviously a lot of injuries and the emergency room was overflown with Bills fans.”‘
