‘Then reality came calling. In the end, the Bills played like a young team that wasn’t quite ready for the biggest stage. They had an opponent down and couldn’t put them away. In the most crucial moments, they lost their poise and went to pieces when the Texans got up off the mat.’

Yet another example of Buffalo Bills playoff heartbreak
‘Armed with a 16-0 lead in the third quarter against a team that has a poor track record in playoff games, the Bills found so many ways to blow the game, it began hard to keep track.’
Brasky: Bills’ postseason defeat proved Allen, Bills are not finished products
‘This certainly isn’t a ‘sky is falling’ scenario, as Allen helped lead the Bills to their best campaign in two decades and within yards of their first playoff win since 1995. However, the work is not finished for Allen, nor for the Bills. While many wanted more, what Buffalo gave its fans this season was something to build on, as this team and its quarterback remain a work in progress.’
Buffalo Bills Report Card: Bills blow 16-point lead, lose wild card game to Texans
‘The offensive line had a so-so day. Giving up that sack to J.J. Watt likely gave the Texans a spark they desperately needed. That was a turning point in the game. The Bills blocked well on the designed run by Allen which was the longest offensive play of the game. They blocked on several of Singletary’s runs and on the long screen pass. And while the Texans sacked Allen three times, all the sacks were costly. One forced the Bills to kick a field goal. Another pushed them out of field goal range. The line improved in 2019-20, but it should remain a priority for the front office going into 2020.’
Hornell native, Bills superfan has moment in the spotlight
‘“A lot of people take pictures at the games. Generally it seems like they all have good motives and I figure I’m at a spot in my life where I know who I am, I know what my body looks like and I’m comfortable with it,” French said. “People are going to say whatever they’re going to say, but I focus on the more positive or funny things and the ones that are more hateful or negative I tend to just ignore and move on to the positive stuff.”‘
The Great Escape: Watson’s magic lifts Texans past Bills in OT
‘But with Buffalo facing third down from the Houston 12-yard line, Watt — playing in his first game since going on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle — sacked Buffalo’s plucky quarterback Josh Allen. Texans players afterward called that the game’s turning point.’
Patience, Bills fans: Josh Allen will win a Super Bowl
‘Allen is not always going to make questionable decisions due to his youth and immaturity. He’s going to be a good one, perhaps even reach Jim Kelly-like status.’

Texans beat Bills, 22-19, as Deshaun Watson, J.J. Watt lead comeback in playoff victory
‘The Bills remained winless in the postseason since December 1995. They got an early trick-play touchdown on a pass from wide receiver John Brown to Allen. Hauschka added four field goals. Allen was effective as a runner, rushing for 92 yards, and had his moments as a passer, throwing for 264 yards on 24-for-46 accuracy. But it wasn’t enough.’

‘NFL officiating reached a new level of bizarre and ESPN missed it.’
Bills’ quarter-century playoff win drought continues in dumbest way possible
‘Sean McDermott played a lead role in this mess when he decided to go for it on 4th and 27 with roughly 1:55 left in the game. Josh Allen took a sack that felt like it lost 70 yards, but Buffalo lucked out because Houston couldn’t get a first down out of the drive.’
Texans vanquish Bills in wild overtime finish, advance in AFC playoffs
‘Allen largely has shown flashes in his second season, but he has lacked consistency as a passer. Saturday, however, he did a much better job of using his legs to enhance his passing game. But Allen’s made costly mistakes that prevented his team from putting the game away.’
Texans Roar Past Bills For 22-19 Win In OT
‘This time Josh Allen and the Bills (10-7) used a dominant first half to build a 13-point lead and were up 16-0 in the third quarter, before Allen began to struggle.’
Allen’s struggles sink Bills in 22-19 OT loss to Texans
‘“He was just trying to do too much and getting a little bit extreme with what he felt like we needed at the time,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said. “But overall, we just didn’t make enough plays.”’
Bills’ Josh Allen says wild-card loss ‘on my shoulders’
‘”Every loss is personal, and if I can go out there and execute differently — hindsight is 20/20, but there’s some things we should have hit on,” said Allen, who is in his second season. “I put that on my shoulders, especially with how well our defense played today. Teams go how their quarterbacks usually go, and I’ve got to be better for this team.”‘
