‘Gore is a remarkable football player, but he’s 103 years old. Only three of his 166 carries in the regular season covered the yardage that would have been necessary to break off a touchdown there. And when he predictably was slammed to the turf after a 1-yard gain, Allen had to spike the ball on second down to stop the clock because the Bills couldn’t risk spending their third timeout on anything but a field goal attempt.’

Bitter Ending Spoils What Had Been A Successful Buffalo Bills Season
‘But the truth of the matter was that the Bills could never build on their impressive start. The offense started to falter, just like it had all season. It was the defense that made the Bills a legitimate playoff contender. And in this game, the Bills defense stood up to the test for most of the game. All season, the question haunted the Bills: could the offense finally put up some serious points?’
Bills collapse and lose to the Texans in overtime, 22-19
‘The two teams exchanged punts before Houston would end it. The Bills looked to have Watson in their grasps for another sack, but the Texans quarterback escaped and found former Bill Taiwan Jones for the pivotal play, as Jones took the ball down to the Buffalo 10-yard line. Ka’imi Fairburn would finish it off, as his 28 yard field goal gave the Texans the win and kept Buffalo from claiming their first playoff win in 25 years.’
Bills offense can’t come through in painful playoff loss
‘On their lone possession in the overtime the Bills actually got as far as the Houston 43 yard line before that drive died. Dawson Knox whiffed on a block on QB sweep, Allen threw a ball too low for Cole Beasley to catch and then a questionable blindside block penalty on Cody Ford essentially killed the drive. You know what happened after that.’
Heartbreak Warfare
‘It’s difficult for me to look at this as a failure on the part of the defense. Seven sacks of Deshaun Watson, a forced fumble on their All Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins after shutting him out the entire first half and several big stops on third down. But, it’s equally as difficult to ignore their failure on 3rd-and-18 in overtime that would have put the ball back in the hands of the offense then the subsequent missed tackle on Watson when they defense had him dead to rights, just to watch him squeak away to find a wide open Taiwan Jones. That play will replay in my nightmares.’
Arrow Up/Arrow Down – Bills at Texans
‘The Texans came into the game as the worst red zone defense in the NFL, but the Bills couldn’t capitalize when they were in close. They were only actually inside the Houston 20 twice, and scored the first time, but were also at the 22 twice and the 29 once and came away with a field goal each time after that, finishing with the one TD overall. Just one touchdown on one of those trips would have most likely won the game.’

Heartbreak in Houston — Mistakes flatline Bills’ season
‘This game was weird. As a matter of fact, it was wild. It put the wild in wild card weekend. But the Bills should’ve won, and in the locker room afterward, they knew that.’

‘During his time as a Bill, he recorded 24 sacks, including a career high 12.5 in 2016.’
Bills Fall To Texans 22-19 in OT
‘The Bills defense held solid on the Texans first drive of overtime, and forced a punt. However, Buffalo would be forced to punt after nine plays. Watson would use some late game magic when he looked to be sacked, on second and six he escaped, he hit Andre Johnson for 34 yards to set up the Texans with first and goal. Ka’imi Fairbairn would drill a 28 yard field goal to give Houston the 22-19 win.’
Bills season ends after 22-19 overtime loss to Texans in playoffs
‘At the two minute warning, the Bills had a 3rd and 13 from the Texans’ 28-yard line, down 19-16. A botched play put the Bills in awful position at the worst possible time. The broken play which resulted in a costly intentional grounding call gave the Bills a near-impossible 4th and 27 from the Houston 42 yard line. That play was even worse as Allen took a sack for a massive loss with the season on the line. 36 yards lost on two plays when it mattered most.’
Bills learn harsh playoff lesson
‘Remember the early season questions about the quality of Bills wins? This was why.’
