Bills QB Allen Questionable, Fully Participates In Practice

‘If Allen cannot play, backup Matt Barkley will start for the Bills. Barkley completed 9 of 16 passes for 127 yards and an interception after replacing Allen against New England. Barkley is the only other quarterback on Buffalo’s roster, though the Bills have Davis Webb on their practice squad. Buffalo has an open roster spot after releasing tackle Conor McDermott on Thursday.’

‘”Special teams is a big part of playing good football, and complimentary football, where all three phases link up to get the overall result. We feel really good about our special teams units. We feel really good about our kicking game. It’s an area we need to continue to develop, but, it’s an area that this weekend, could come into play, with respect to the type of game that we expect. We expect it to be a physical, field position-type of game. And so, special teams usually plays a big part in those types of games.”‘

‘If Allen can’t play, the Bills would need to promote Webb from the practice squad to serve as the backup to Matt Barkley. Such a move must be made by 4 p.m. Saturday in order for Webb to be eligible to play against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. McDermott said the team would be comfortable taking the decision right up to the deadline.’
