‘New England Patriots assistant coach and “de facto defensive coordinator” Jerod Mayo did not use any of the aforementioned quarterbacks when he was asked who Allen reminded him of ahead of the Patriots’ Week 4 matchup with the Bills. Instead, Mayo went with former No. 1 overall pick Michael Vick. Mayo’s comparison was revealed in a piece on NFL.com by Michael Giardi.’

Sullivan: Patriots game more measuring stick than must-win
‘Simply scoring before halftime will be an achievement. It will be a good test for Allen and an improving offense, against a team that shut down Patrick Mahomes, Jared Goff and Ben Roethlisberger in the first half during their current run. I imagine offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has been saving a few things for his old boss and mentor, Bill Belichick.’
Local Bills fan reflects on a century of life and sports
‘“They are a new team,” she added, noting that this year’s Bills are off to a good start at 3-0. “They’ve got to learn to play better as a team. Sometimes I feel like (quarterback Josh) Allen is the whole team and they’d be better off if he brought the whole team together.”’
Might this year be different for the Buffalo Bills?
‘But the Bills have no choice but to keep looking for their own Brady, and it’s Josh Allen’s turn on the other side now. The 23-year-old has been good enough under third-year coach Sean McDermott and second-year offensive coordinator Brian Daboll that there is growing belief he might be the franchise’s best long-term solution since Hall of Famer Jim Kelly.’
Bills deserve respect, but they won’t beat Patriots
‘Patriots 30, Bills 9.’
Patriots will be tested by mobile Bills QB Josh Allen
‘“He’s like a running back. He breaks tackles, he’s got good speed, good power and he’s shifty and he avoids and breaks a lot of tackles,” said Patriots coach Bill Belichick. “Yeah, that’s another dimension . . . they have designed run plays for him. They’ve hit a lot of them at critical times, a lot of big plays, touchdowns, red area, third-down conversions, things like that. They use them in some timely ways, well-designed plays that create problems for the defense. He adds that element to their offense and they’ve used it very effectively.”’

Patriots at Bills: Sal’s keys, notes and stats
‘We know Patriots’ coach Bill Belichick likes to take away what a team does best. Last season, the Bills best offense was Josh Allen running, so that’s what Belichick did. In the six games Allen played after returning from his elbow injury, he had at least nine carries in every one of them, except for one – at the Patriots. In that game, the then-rookie QB only carried the ball five times, and for only 30 yards. Belichick made him try to win from the pocket. Allen was 20-for-41 for 217 yards, with 1 TD and 2 interceptions. Allen’s off to a much better start this year throwing the football, completing 64.1% of his passes. He’ll have to continue on that path, at the very least, against the Patriots defense, because Belichick will force him to.’
Patriots Are Wary of NFL’s Most Rowdy Fan Base
‘“It is tough. Coming in as the visiting team, their fans and the energy in there, they do a good job of making sure you don’t feel at home, or feel welcome,” Devin McCourty said Friday on Dale & Keefe with Andy Hart. “We know it will start as soon as we turn into the stadium and we drive through all the tailgates and we try to get around to that back entrance where we go in. We will get a little bit of everything — the middle fingers, ‘you suck’ — we will get it all.”‘
Erie County Sheriff’s Office Union criticizes Erie County District Attorney
‘”The verdict from Orchard Park yesterday is unfortunately a setback for ALL local law enforcement,” said Parisi. “While the PBA must accept the decision of the jury, we as police officers are left with a number of concerns as to the basis of facts in this case. Those concerns have never been addressed by the District Attorney.’
Pats on playing in Buffalo: “The atmosphere is awesome”
‘“I mean, the atmosphere is awesome. I think as an away team, if you like that type of atmosphere where everybody’s against you, you know it’s going to be just you and your guys there for three hours trying to get a win,” added safety Devin McCourty.’
