‘With the big plays came big mistakes last Sunday — four turnovers by the Buffalo offense in the first half. The Bills shut down the giveaways in the second half, but they’ll need to protect the ball much better as the season moves along.’

Eric Wood | How the Bills capitalized on the Jets misfortune
‘Through the first half, C.J. Mosley made it known he was worth the money the Jets spent on him in the offseason. Mosley was a complete ball hawk when he was on the field.’
Bills Today: Why Buffalo’s secondary respects Eli Manning
‘“His mental awareness,” Micah Hyde said. “I’ve played against him in the past and he’s a very smart quarterback. He knows what you’re going to do on every play and is going to be dangerous. We have to continue to work on out craft and disguise our coverages.”’
Ty Nsekhe’s untold journey from behind bars to the Bills
‘He used to earn $100 a game, about $85 after taxes, and an extra $50 if his team won. In March, he signed a two-year, $10 million contract with the Bills.’
Bills have second least ‘homegrown’ roster in NFL
‘The reason for the Bills’ ranking, of course, is the lack of drafting success of the previous Buffalo regimes and the housecleaning done by Beane and McDermott.’
Welcome to the New, New Era Bills
‘The rookies never looked as green as the Jets. The special teams didn’t lose field position or the game as earlier installments of “new” Bills, and like the Jets did. Kaare Vedvik lost them four points. Hausch Money has never missed (12-for-12 on FGs, 24-for-24 on PATs) in seven games at MetLife.’
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants: 7 things to know about Buffalo’s Week 2 opponent
‘Sterling Shepard, New York’s current No. 1 wide receiver, caught six passes for 42 yards in the Giants’ Week 1 loss to the Cowboys. 7 noteworthy numbers on big offensive plays, the disruptive pass rush and more from Week 1
‘”I think John Brown did a nice job and factored into some of those big plays along with Devin,” said head coach Sean McDermott. “Josh obviously had a hand in some of those as well. But to have the protection up front and do some things in the run game. I thought the blend was good there in the second half. We showed the ability to move the chains and then create the chunk plays. It was good to see.”‘

Ed Oliver’s contributions to win go beyond the box score
‘Oliver, the Bills’ prized first-round draft pick, finished with two tackles and one quarterback hit in a 17-16 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Those numbers don’t fully account for Oliver’s impact, though. The defensive tackle consistently disrupted the pocket, setting up his teammates to get after Jets quarterback Sam Darnold.’
Video Review: Josh Allen deals out of Brian Daboll’s two-back spread
‘The two-back spread formation accomplished several things. It forced the Jets’ linebackers to cover in space, and the Jets had lost two starting linebackers to injury in preseason. It also gave Allen clearer reads on coverage. If a defensive back was over DiMarco, it was likely zone coverage. Allen hit Cole Beasley and John Brown for easy completions in underneath zones for 8 and 9 yards on the first drive. If a linebacker was over DiMarco, it was man coverage. Allen hit Brown for 15 yards against man coverage early.’
Bills OC Brian Daboll explains pass-heavy game plan early against Jets
‘“He’s a grinder. He’s a competitor. He’s smart. He’s tough. And I got a lot of faith in him,” he said. “We started out the game in no huddle to spread (the Jets) out. Sometimes you start games, you pass to set up the run or you run to set up the pass. Each week is a little bit unique. This is what we felt was best going into this game.”’
Analysis: Bills tight ends were unsung heroes in win over Jets
‘They combined to catch only three passes, but their blocking on the edge was a key to the Bills’ off-tackle runs in the second half. Blocking by the tight-end position was a weakness last season. Not any more, it seems.’
Josh Allen shows maturity, poise after difficult beginning
‘Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills scored 14 points in a perfect fourth-quarter performance to beat the New York Jets, 17-16, Sunday. Allen was 24 of 37 on the day for 254 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. His 64.8% completion percentage marked an impressive improvement from his efficiency last season of just 52%. Allen’s growth and maturity were clearly evident in the review of the play-by-play. He displayed impressive command, footwork, presence in the pocket, accuracy, and had an overall quarterback performance grade of 90%.’
