Bills QB Josh Allen Jokes There’s ‘One New York Team’ After Giants, Jets Wins

‘”Um, [there’s] one New York team,” he said, while pointing and winking at the reporter. “I’m just kidding. But I care about what the Bills are doing, how our teammates respond, how I play. To have a ‘C’ on my chest and to go out there and put everything on the line for those guys is what I’m striving to do.”‘

‘Allen was dealing in the first half. He was on time and on-target, going 15-for-20, throwing for 203 yards in the first two quarters. He threw a TD and ran for one, as well. His second half didn’t go as well, but with his team up two scores for most of it, he only threw the ball ten times. Allen finished the game 19-for-30 for 253 yards and a touchdown through the air and added another 21 yards and a TD on the ground. He became the first Bills’ QB since Jim Kelly in 1992 to throw for over 200 yards in seven straight games and the first NFL QB since Cam Newton in 2013 to have a rushing and passing TD in three straight games.’

‘McDermott was particularly impressed with the throw Allen made to John Brown on third-down at the 8:23 mark in the fourth quarter. Allen evaded the pass rush, making the defender look like a deer in the headlights. The Bills QB then threw a rope to John Brown for a 23-yard gain and the first-down. It essentially sealed the win for the boys from Buffalo.’

4 Observations: Bills Beat the Giants

‘The Bills offense continues to improve. It’s only two games but the offense has looked much better than the unit which averaged under 17 points per game last season. Josh Allen was 19-30, 253 yards, 1 TD pass, 1 TD run. He was able to extend several plays with his legs, avoid sacks, and makes plays down the field. Allen and the Bills offense turned the ball over 4 times in week one and did not have a turnover in Sunday’s win. They also went for over 150 yards on the ground.’

‘For the first time ever, the Bills are 2-0 after opening the season with two games on the road. To be fair, it’s only the fifth time ever the Bills had to play twice before a game in Orchard Park.’

‘The Giants had a chance to strike right before half after a 60-yard punt return. However, rookie Ed Oliver put his hands up and tipped Eli Manning’s pass and was intercepted by Trent Murphy. Buffalo kneeled out the clock to go into half up two scores.’

‘“No, we knew that we were going to take a shot early,” safety Micah Hyde said. “All the media was talking about all week was how Saquon didn’t get enough touches. He’s the straw that makes that drink go. So, we knew that we were going to take a shot. Obviously, it wasn’t ideal to give up a touchdown on the first drive, but once we were able to get back to the sideline and regroup, understand what we had to do. You have to give them credit, they went down there and scored, but at the same time there were things that we could have done better. We could have tackled better, [been] gap-sound and we could have gotten off the field on a few plays.”’

‘“Good to get a win, especially on the road,” head coach Sean McDermott said. “I thought the guys played hard. Give credit to the Giants. It was a hard-fought win for us and a tough place to play and I appreciate our fans showing up like they did for the second week in a row on the road. Tough to win, tough to win on the road, particularly two weeks in a row so lot of good stuff and I thought we got stronger the last couple of weeks. We’re certainly going to learn and a lot, a lot to work on, a lot to improve this week as we go back to work.”’
