‘“I hope it is tough. It is going to be tough. I hope we’re healthy because you’re right. I looked at it in June as okay, ‘If we keep five receivers, four tight ends, this number… Where are we going to cut a spot?’ And I love linemen. And I don’t want to be short there. Those seem like once you get into late-September the talent level really starts to drop-off if you need a replacement. You can find one early in the year, but you start getting to late-September, early-October you’re crossing your fingers most of the time for those guys. Unless it’s a guy who has had an injury settlement that was a good player and just happened to become available in the middle of the year.”’

Alexander: ‘We have to reset and earn the right to win’
‘“I think one thing we have to do is… we have to reset and earn the right to win, and be great again on defense,” Alexander said. “We can’t just translate what we did last year, even though we have 10 or 11 starters coming back…if you have that mindset you could easily fall off and figure out ‘man, we were expecting the defense [to do well]. The offense is doing well, why isn’t the defense doing [it] right?”’
