‘Coach Sean McDermott on Tuesday didn’t reveal the severity of the injury, but says Gaines is expected to miss a number of weeks. Gaines missed one practice after being hurt Sunday.’

Bills’ McCoy: Skepticism ‘weird’ heading into ’19
‘”It’s kind of weird,” McCoy said while making his first public comments of training camp. “Since I was 9 years old, I’ve been, like, the top guy. So it’s weird to hear stuff like that. The good thing is, I’ve learned how the media is, how you guys are, how people are, how fans are … fantasy team owners. You have a bad two games and three hot ones and you’re the man.”‘
Bills’ Gaines out ‘a few weeks’ with groin injury
‘Gaines was competing with Levi Wallace and Kevin Johnson for the Bills’ starting cornerback job opposite Tre’Davious White, earning mostly second-team reps during training camp.’
Bills’ McCoy is motivated by the talk that he’s declined
‘I don’t think I’m breaking any new ground here when I say, McCoy has always been really good at football. He’s used to being the best guy out there, so being doubted is new to him, “Since I’ve been nine-years-old I’ve been the top guy, so it’s weird to hear something like that, but it comes along with it, but the good thing is I’ve learned how the media is, how people are, how fans are, how fantasy team owners are, My brother, who’s a sports agent, he sends me clips or whatever of [people] doubting [Aaron Rodgers] or Tom [Brady] and it’s like, we’ll see on Sundays and I’m fine with that, I know who I am, I know how I play and my teammates know who I am.”’
Bills sign tackle Jarron Jones; place LaAdrian Waddle on injured reserve
‘Since finishing his college career with Notre Dame in 2017, Jones has yet to play a snap in an NFL game. The 25-year-old has spent time primarily on practice squads with the Lions, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins.’
Lafayette Pitts ready to fill the void left from E.J. Gaines’ injury
‘“I just have to balance things by taking it one day at a time and one play at a time,” is how Pitts said he’s been handling things lately. “The coaches put me in, I have to go and perform at the best ability I can and just hopefully everything goes well. Like I said, just playing, doing what the coaches ask me to do, and just being a team player.”’
Bills need their “franchise” center
‘If you’re looking for some good news in all of this, Morse was at least able to attend practices as opposed to being directed to stay in a darkened dorm room and avoid all interactions. He has been out doing some exercise while the Bills have been practicing so it appears that Morse is already in stage three of the five stage NFL concussion protocol. Assuming he has no symptoms from the jogging and other work, Morse can move to stage four which includes non contact football and position specific activities. If Morse checks out okay after that he can be cleared for a return to practice.’
Capccio: Five post-training camp opinions
‘Ed Oliver is going to be really, really good. I’m not proclaiming the rookie defensive tackle and All-Pro already or anything like that, but he was already showing why he was in Outland Trophy winner and considered a Heisman Trophy candidate prior to last season even as a defensive lineman. It took a couple days, but once the pads came on Oliver showed the explosiveness, power, and lateral movement that made him the ninth-overall pick in the NFL draft. After being on the second-team defense through most of camp, Oliver took a starting role over Jordan Phillips the last several days. I can’t see anyway he’s giving that back from here on out.’
LeSean McCoy says he’s “the guy” in the Bills’ backfield
‘“It’s weird. Since I’ve been like nine-years-old I’ve been like the top guy so it’s crazy to hear stuff like that,” McCoy said. “I learned how the media is, how you guys are, how people are, how fans are, fantasy team owners, you have a bad two games and then you have three hot ones and you’re the man again.”’
McCoy eyes bounce back season
‘“We’re all competing, making each other better each day — each game,” McCoy said. “I’m the guy. I feel like that, that’s what I’ve been told and that’s my every day approach. We’re all on the same team trying to win games but compete against each other and make each other better.”’
Bills wrap up training camp, eye preseason opener Vs. Colts
‘“I think with the depth, that’s the difference,” McCoy said. “Last year, guys got hurt, retired — whatever the issues were — the backups had to come in to play. But here, we’ve added so much depth with guys that have been starters that will be backups.”’
Whispers fueling McCoy
‘“There’s always talk about something,” McCoy said. “It’s off the field. It’s age. It’s my salary. There’s always something. I learn to use that nowadays as motivation.”’
Jarron Jones gets a shot with his hometown team, the Buffalo Bills
‘Jones has bounced around a few teams in the NFL, signing previously with the Giants, Buccaneers, and Seahawks.’
Bills sign offensive lineman Jarron Jones
‘To make room on the roster for Jones, the Bills placed LaAdrian Waddle on injured reserve (quad) after he was carted off the field Sunday.’
Quick Hits: First team offense could play longer Thursday night
‘“On the offensive side that could be the case,” McDermott admitted. “We’ll just see how the game flows. We want to get out and establish some good fundamentals and go from there.”’
