Bills’ receiver Duke Williams: ‘There’s always a chip on my shoulder’
‘”I’ve been dogged before. I’ve been down. I’ve been criticized my whole life, so there’s always a chip on my shoulder, and I want people to feel my pain. A lot of people wouldn’t be able to take what I went through, and I just want to show them that anything is possible as long as you put your faith in that man above, and that’s what I’ve been doing.”‘

‘So if Wade is to make an impression this month and land himself a place on the final 53-man playing roster, he will need to deliver something special. And against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night, he did just that.’

I was looking up at the screen to see if any of the linebackers or anyone was coming up behind me.”‘

Bills win preseason opener against the Colts, 24-16
‘In the first quarter, Buffalo’s starting defense forced a punt on the first series of the game. However, Buffalo could not get much going on their first drive either. Buffalo did let Josh Allen throw it on every play of the opening series, 2-for-5 for 17 yards in their opening drive. Following a Colts three-and-out, Allen led the Bills offense down the field with big plays to Zay Jones and John Brown, but Buffalo fizzled out in the red zone and then missed a field goal, keeping the game scoreless. Allen’s day was over after that second drive, finishing 6-of-11 for 66 yards.’
Many young Bills step up in the preseason opener
‘We hear a lot about the depth the Bills have at cornerback, but we saw it against the Colts. Lafayette Pitts did a terrific job breaking up a fourth down pass in Bills territory and another pass in the end zone where he knocked the ball right out of the receiver’s hands. With E.J. Gaines out for weeks, there is opportunity for some of these young players.’
Capaccio: Bills-Colts Arrow Up/Arrow Down
‘Lawson is going into the final year of his contract and played right away like a man who wants to have a big year and get paid. He was in the Colts backfield twice on the first series, causing problems for them, and did a great job of setting the edge against the run.’
Bills defeat Colts in preseason opener
‘Eddie Yarbrough and rookie Darryl Johnson Sr. each had a sack and defensiveback Dean Marlowe had an interception off of Colts’ quarterback Phillip Walker.’
5 Observations: Bills top Colts 24-16 in first preseason game
‘Overall, it was a solid debut for Allen. When he ran, he got out of bounds. When he threw, he scanned the field. It wasn’t perfect, but it was progress.’
Fans brave the elements for Bills first preseason game
‘”When you don’t hear too much about the Buffalo Bills, that’s when they do good. When they have too much hype, they seem to tank,” David Daniels, a lifelong Bills fan, said.’
Bills offense stumbles in preseason opener
‘With new weapons around him, quarterback Josh Allen finished 6-for-11 for 66 yards before exiting with a little less than two minutes to play in the first quarter. He was also sacked once.’
