And Thursday night, we’re coming to put on a show, preseason or not.”‘

Rookie Tommy Sweeney taking advantage of starter’s reps at tight end
‘Sweeney, a seventh-round draft pick out of Boston College, has risen up the depth chart this summer mostly because of what’s happening around him. Presumed starter Tyler Kroft, veteran Jason Croom and third-round draft pick Dawson Knox all currently are out with injuries. That has given Sweeney the chance to work with the starters, including Friday night as part of the team’s “Return of the Blue and Red” practice in front of about 10,000 fans at New Era Field.’
Ed Reed unloads on incompetence of Bills’ staff under Rex Ryan
‘Although Reed said he “loved Buffalo” and described being in Western New York as “a great time,” he was frustrated by the circumstances created by staff members whom he declined to name. “You had people that were just hard-headed, man,” Reed said. “Honestly. Just grown men like hard-headed, like don’t want to work with you.”‘

Buffalo Bills training camp 2019: Where do camp battles stand heading into New Era Field night practice?
‘Buffalo’s first five wide receivers appear set with John Brown, Cole Beasley, Zay Jones, Robert Foster and Andre Roberts. The No. 6 job, if the Bills keep six receivers, is currently up for grabs.’
Bills training camp 2019: Mitch Morse’s absence looms large (Night practice observations)
‘Morse missed practice as he remains in the concussion protocol and his replacement, center Russell Bodine, provided little protection against defensive tackles Star Lotulelei and Jordan Phillips, who forced Allen to abandon the pocket numerous times and throw on the run. Luckily for the Bills Allen has a knack for making plays when things go bad, but the whole point of reconstructing the offense, particularly the offensive line, was to allow their second-year quarterback to develop and mature as a passer.’
In spite of injuries
‘“He has had a really good camp thus far,” said Allen about Sweeney. “We’re down on tight ends a little bit but he has stepped up. At such a young age its good to see that.”’
Early Returns Glowing For Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen
‘Brown in particular seems to have found a chemistry with Allen, catching two long passes from Allen in one of the early practices. Brown’s speed was causing headaches for Buffalo’s secondary.’
Bills’ McDermott loves having the fans at their night practice in Orchard Park
‘“We looked forward to getting some energy from our fans, it’s a great night for us to interact with our fans, I know that our guys after practice got a chance to thank the fans. It’s a fresh change for the guys, gives them a change of scenery and keeps it fresh. The guys were excited to get out there.”‘
Allen: “I am another asset for coach Daboll”
‘”The stability is extremely beneficial. There’s so much verbage, it’s nice to know most of it already. Knowing this system, and now knowing what to tell guys, I am another asset for coach Brian Daboll.”‘

Rookies enjoy first game-like atmosphere at New Era
‘“I look around and I see a whole bunch of 91 jerseys and I haven’t even stepped on the field here. So, it just shows you how much the people and the community buy in,” said first round pick Ed Oliver. “I’m surprised they’re not tailgating or jumping through tables. That’s what I want to see.”’
4 Observations From Bills Practice (8/2)
‘Good Josh vs Bad Josh. The Bills quarterback was little bit of both on Friday night. He made one throw to Zay Jones that only a few QBs in the league could complete. Allen rolled right, was off balance, and throw a strike to Jones about 20 yards down the field. However, a few plays later he tossed an ugly interception deep down the field that was picked off by Dean Marlowe.’
