‘“You look at the teams that have won and sustained winning and they have a number of years being around each other systematically, personnel wise,” McDermott said. “Changeover is part of the modern-day NFL landscape, but building the continuity is important.”’

Bills to host Kids Day Game at preseason opener vs. Colts
‘The events begin at 3 p.m. with a Kids Day tailgate party in Lot 6, featuring activities, including mini golf, inflatables, a mechanical Bills helmet ride, airbrush tattoos, Bills-themed haircuts, DJ Milk and a performance by the Stampede. The tailgate party includes food trucks and other concessions as well as the opportunity to purchase merchandise.’
Bills GM Brandon Beane and coach Sean McDermott built a bond rooted in respect
‘“If we can keep the direct line of communication open, I think, although hard, that’s the healthiest way to go about it,” said Beane. “At the end of the day I know that Sean is trying to do what’s best for the Bills and it’s not a personal agenda. Hopefully he realizes the same (about me).”’
Bills’ Sean McDermott, Brandon Beane detail how they avoid coach-GM ‘relationship fracture’
‘“When you don’t work with each other directly every day in hand-to-hand combat, you (only) see the best of each other,” McDermott said in mid-June during an embargoed sit down interview with Bills beat reporters.’
Buffalo Bills GM: ‘Unbelievably smart’ Ken Dorsey has ‘natural bond’ with Josh Allen
‘“Obviously, you guys know his college career and he hung on in the pros probably for his mental ability longer than his physical ability,” Bills general manager Brandon Beane told reporters at an embargoed interview session in late June. “(Ken’s) a very tough competitor. You see that even when we play basketball with him. He’s fiery. He works super hard. And he’s as smart as anybody that I’ve been around. He’s unbelievably smart. He sees the game.”’
Buffalo Bills GM hints Russell Wilson would be a good model for Josh Allen
‘“I think a guy that does a great job of it is Russell Wilson. He’s a guy that just lulls you to sleep, makes the throws, but all of a sudden they need a play and he keeps it. He doesn’t run that much, but he does it. He (just) doesn’t overdo it,” Beane told reporters at his last media availability before training camp in mid-June during an embargoed interview session. “So it’s just finding that balance of using my weapons when I can, let them move us, and all of a sudden the defense kind of loses sight of it.”’
Buffalo Bills GM: LeSean McCoy has ‘enough left in the tank to help us in 2019’
‘“I think LeSean still can play. If not, we would have made the decision to move on. I think he’s embraced the competition this spring,” Beane said in June during an embargoed interview with Bills beat reporters. “He’s very confident, when you talk to him, that he still sees himself up here. And I don’t think you’re changing that. And I wouldn’t want him to think any different. But we’re focused on this year. That’s what we have him under contract for, and I definitely think he’s got enough left in the tank to help us in 2019.”’
Buffalo Bills’ Sean McDermott thinks 4 preseason games is a good number
‘“Sometimes it just takes these guys time, multiple exposures to environment, to game, to the NFL speed, for them to show you the best versions of themselves,” McDermott said. “You go into that (fourth) game with probably every year, two or three guys that have shown some things but we need to see one more. And then they knock it out in that game, and we go ‘yeah, yeah, he’s made the case to be on our football team.’ Could that happen in three, possibly two? I think that would be awfully hard.”’
9 things Buffalo Bills GM said on state of rebuild entering Year 3
‘”I do prefer the draft part of it. Due to our cap situation and all the other parts of this rebuild, whatever you want to call it, I don’t think in the future you’ll see us sign as many free agents as we can continue to draft and develop the guys we have drafted the last three years.”‘
Pro Football Focus ranks NFL pass-rush units | Are Buffalo Bills atop AFC East?
‘How does Buffalo’s potential pass-rush from the defensive line stack up across the league? Pretty favorably according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). PFF’s Michael Renner ranked every pass-rush in the league and the Bills were listed at No. 13 heading into the 2019 season. Here is what Renner said about the Bills.’
Buffalo Bills QB Allen is one of few constants for transformed Buffalo roster
‘“Being in the same system for a year, the same terminology, having such a good rapport with Dabes (Brian Daboll), knowing the reps that I’m going to get, that’s all been super advantageous for me and I’m super excited that I’ve been able to do that,” said Allen. “I’m really trusting what’s around me. Like I said, the coaches that we got in our room right now are fantastic. We’ve been doing a really good job in that aspect. I’m excited to get back to work here come training camp.”’
With two returning contributors, and many more added in free agency, the time is now for Bills wide receivers
‘Of the Bills’ five returning receivers, just one of them was able exceed 600 receiving yards in 2018, as Zay Jones’ 56 receptions, 652 yards and seven touchdowns led the team in each category. The only other Buffalo receiver to eclipse 500 receiving yards was up-and-comer Robert Foster, who caught 27 passes for 541 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games played. Although those numbers don’t inspire much confidence, both players return to the Bills roster in 2019 expected to contribute more consistently to the team’s efforts offensively.’
Why The Buffalo Bills Could Be A 10-Win NFL Team In 2019
‘This team should have high expectations for itself based on a roster overhaul, and the fans should have high expectations as well. Of course, injuries could throw this projection all out of whack.’
How will the Bills handle their crowded running back situation?
‘”I think the two older vets are going to push each other and going to provide a lot of competition to that room. And obviously, Devin’s come in and T.J. and Marcus Murphy. Senorise Perry is still learning the offense as well, but has been a really good special teams player. And then Christian Wade. We have a lot of players there. But I’m not sitting here and saying right now I’m keeping four or five or whatever. We’re going to keep the best ones.”’
Rumors of trying to trade up in draft were “definitely overblown,” says Beane
‘At the time, the Jets GM was Mike Maccagnan. He was since fired by the club. But that night back in April, eventually, Maccagnan chose Williams himself with the No. 3 overall choice and the Bills grabbed Oliver. Before all that could happen, Beane was basically doing his due diligence and having the types of conversations almost all GMs are having. It may very well have been more about the Jets tying to trade down and looking for a partner to do it with.”‘
