Which of the five 2018 first-round quarterbacks will fare the best in 2019?
‘Based on his rookie season, the Browns’ Baker Mayfield deserves to be considered the favorite in the battle of 2018 first-round quarterbacks. Mayfield was excellent after taking over for Tyrod Taylor, and has seen his team add a legitimate No. 1 receiver in Odell Beckham Jr. Given that Rosen is in a quarterback competition with Ryan Fitzpatrick, he should be looked at as No. 5 on the list. After that, Josh Allen, Sam Darnold and Lamar Jackson are all in similar positions, with Bills, Jets and Ravens fans respectively holding out hope that they have their guy. Jackson’s team had a lot more success than the Bills or Jets last year, but that gap should close in 2019.’
Frank Reich on being ‘mediator’ with Bills and higher expectations for Colts
‘My biggest takeaway was that the things that I learned from the likes of Marv Levy and Tony Dungy are true: It’s about the people and it’s about the process. It’s easy to get caught up in all of the hype and all of the glitz and glamour and the thrill of, “Let’s win a Lombardi Trophy,” kind of deal. So it’s almost counterintuitive to say, “No, that’s not what we’re going to focus on. We’re going to focus on people and we’re going to focus on the process and focus on getting better every day.” You go in and you think, “Hey, if I ever have a chance to be a head coach, this is going to be it. This is the mantra.”‘
1 underrated Buffalo Bills player to watch at each position in 2019 | Who could shake up the roster?
‘There doesn’t seem to be much wiggle room at the running back position with LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore, Devin Singletary and T.J. Yeldon on the roster, but Senorise Perry has a shot to crack the roster due to his special teams play. Perry finished the 2018 season tied for sixth in the league in special teams tackles (9). If he sticks out on special teams this summer and adds value as a runner, Perry could claim the final running back spot on the roster.’
4 key takeaways from the first two weeks of OTAs
‘Third round draft pick Dawson Knox has already impressed in his first three weeks on the job. His speed is evident, and he’s displayed athleticism in the rookie workouts and OTAS. His quarterback, Josh Allen, had early praise for Knox’s familiarity with the playbook in the May practices.’
